Life & Work with Elizabeth Peterson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Peterson.

Hi Elizabeth, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My business partner and I started Beautox Bar in August of 2016 because we wanted to empower our own lives as well as others through aesthetics treatments. We found that the medspa industry kept hidden what is involved in bringing back youthfulness through injectables. I had been a nurse for over 25 years and my business partner had many years experience in business development so we decided we would make a perfect pair in creating the ultimate medspa experience. Breaking into the medspa industry wasn’t easy by any stretch. We had to fight for information and overcome many barriers.

The costs involved to start our business became overwhelming and we felt at many times in our beginnings that we were not going to make it. But we persevered and kept trying new things until it finally took off. We are celebrating 5 years in business and we have expanded our business threefold. We believe we have been successful because we focused on improving ourselves in technique, marketing, customer experience, and branding every single day. We don’t look to the left or the right, we only look forward to improve ourselves. As a women-owned and run business, we found that we empower the people we are around and give hope and happiness. We absolutely love what we do at the Beautox Bar and have pure joy in watching our clients become more youthful in every way.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The struggles and setbacks we experienced in opening our business were obtaining customers. We literally started with nothing and I mean nothing. We opened our business on October 15, 2016 in Maple Grove with no customers and no marketing plan. It was a Saturday and we invited our friends and family, but no one wanted to get treated. They didn’t understand what we did exactly and were afraid of needles. That is when we realized the importance of educating the public and taking the fear out of aesthetic treatments.

People’s perception of a botched celebrity linked them to Botox and Fillers when in reality it was botched plastic surgery, not injectables. We learned that we needed to teach people how injectables work and what they can do for creating a more natural look. That is when Facebook Lives helped us in teaching and demonstrating the differences to make an impact on gathering customers. Another issue we had to overcome was setting the correct expectations. We would get callbacks a day or two after a treatment and they would have a ton of questions and concerns. We had to educate our clients while in the chair on what to expect and how to manage the treatment aftercare. We would tell them what to expect, but they would quickly forget so we created aftercare kits with reminders.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have been a Registered Nurse for over 25 years and worked at Mercy Hospital for 26 years. I have since retired at Mercy Hospital and run the Beautox Bar with my business partner. I love treating clients with injectables because I am an artist with the needle and can bring back a youthful, fresh look. Botox and fillers are amazing alternatives to plastic surgery. They are not permanent so we can adjust as a client ages. I also love to do treatments such as Kybella to eliminate the fat where injected and to provide hair restoration alternatives for clients through platelet-rich plasma injections.

Beautox Bar focuses on injectables and body/face contouring with radiofrequency and heat. We do not provide facials, waxing, or aesthetician treatments. I am very proud of the level of service we provide to our clients and the education each client receives about their treatments. We took the mystery out of the medspa industry and our clients love us for this reason. Our clients are loyal and are impressed with the work we do for them. We are all certified at our clinic and we are up to date on the latest technologies.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
It is important to listen to the client and understand what they desire. We consult with our client in designing a plan, reviewing all the costs involved, and scheduling treatments. We then educate them on what the treatments are, how they work, and what to expect. Clients appreciate the time we take with them and how well we communicate.
