Life & Work with Evan Swenson of Minneapolis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Evan Swenson.

Hi Evan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started playing music when I was in elementary school around 7 or 8 years old. I was in my schools band for quite a few years after that and fell in love with playing music and listening to as it was a necessity at home growing up. When I got into high school that’s when I began to write music and compose music by producing Lo-Fi records for a long while until writing my single Just A Memory and Complete. Following that I began to attend Hamline University for music mixing and production and then write my record TIDES which brings us to current day.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It so far hasn’t been as difficult as some I would be. I think the most difficult obstacle I faced was learning the ins and outs so to say of the music industry and how to be involved in it. I think I finally have learned more of the nuances and details of how to maintain involvement and staying consistent and stable in the music world.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a recording engineer that also specializes in music production and writing. I am known for my production on various songs the come out this year and my album TIDES that came out this September. TIDES is also the work that I am most proud of and what I think sets me apart from others is how I draw in inspiration from works in history that can before me.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
I think for anyone that is starting out in music composition or recording the best thing they can do is get out and met as many people that are interested in their same field and possible. I would also recommend to practice, practice, practice it pays off and it’s always seen by others….
