Life & Work with Jolene Danca of Winona

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jolene Danca.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Scrappin’ on the Ranch is a family-run business. Actually, you could even call it a “Mom & Sons run business”. That’s me (Jolene, owner), and my two sons, Riley and Logan. We are the caretakers, cleaners, and the welcoming faces you see when you arrive. We’ve put a lot of time and dedication into our Ranch.

Scrappin’ on the Ranch opened in April 2010, and the memories that have been made and the lifelong friendships that have been created are priceless. We reside on the Ranch property; our home is pictured below, but don’t worry, our guests have plenty of privacy.

We pride ourselves on taking excellent care of our guests, making them feel at home as soon as they enter our doors. We will do our best to accommodate your needs in any way possible. We have shared our little piece of heaven with guests from all over the United States and some international guests. Remember, the Ranch is the ideal getaway for anyone and is open year-round.

Enter as guests, leave as friends.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We had to do all of our advertising on our own, as we are small, and it is not cost-effective to use any other source other than word of mouth and situations like this.
We had to close down during COVID.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an Alternative Learning Center Principal. I own Scrappin’ on the Ranch. I also own and operate Ranch Retreat camping (a three-site campground on the property), and I own and maintain Eupraxia Winona (a fitness center). I am proud of all I have done as a single mom to keep my family afloat. I am a doer and refuse to fail. I have modeled work ethic and resiliency with my boys.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I have been lucky enough to raise two boys who work hard and have come along for the “ride” in all things I do for our family. The guests we have love the ranch and I have some groups/guests who have been staying with us since day one.
