Life & Work with Jordan Jasinski of St. Paul

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Jasinski

Hi Jordan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am originally from Colorado. I started tattooing in 2017, my apprenticeship was far from wonderful, but in a lot of ways it shaped me into the person and the artist I am today. I never stopped pushing myself out of my comfort zone or stopped trying to learn more, and I honestly still try and push myself in these ways today as much as I can, whether it be working on improving a tattoo style I haven’t done as much or finding a shop I know will help me level up. There is always more to learn!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. It took me 2 years to even score an apprenticeship, and then it ended up being a pretty horrible experience, where I actually ended up having to leave the industry for a bit because I had my tattooing equipment stolen by my own mentor, and I wasn’t taught enough about tattooing in order to go to a new shop without starting an apprenticeship over. I was working 100 hours a week, 40+ including the apprenticeship that was only paid when I did a tattoo. Thankfully after a few months I found a shop owner who cared for me and my situation and he took me under his wing and help mold me into the tattoo artist I am today.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a black and grey tattoo artist. I love doing larger-scale floral tattoos, as well as geometric. And right now I am currently working on perfecting my spin on realism animals/pet portraits! I am also known for doing a good amount of “witchy” type tattoos, which I truly enjoy doing since I am spiritual myself. I take my interaction and relationship with my clients very seriously, and I pride myself in making the tattoo experience as great and enjoyable as possible. I often form strong bonds and even friendships with my clients, the energy exchange between us is important to me. I would love to eventually be able to offer “intuitive tattooing” where I do a quick tarot card reading with my client, and based on the reading, as well as their energy, creating a design for them and then tattooing it after! I think that would be a fun and unique experience for my clients.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
That my job is unfortunately non essential. Haha.

Pricing:

  • I am $200 an hour! Very very quick at tattooing, though! Promise.
  • I offer pre-drawn designs that are often a set rate as well!
