Today we’d like to introduce you to LaToya Wilson.
Hi LaToya, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
This was given to me about 15 years ago and I sat on it. One night God woke me up a 3am, clearly when I was paying the most attention, and said as plain as day, “It’s Time!” So, it was time! The foundation is the Facebook group S.H.E.E. (SISTERS HEALING EVOLVING AND EMPOWERED) which was created for women to have a safe, non-judgmental space to talk about their issues with the support of a sisterhood of like-minded and experienced women. I then began having conferences under the S.H.E.E. label, which drew when more women. I hosted my very first International Empowerment Conference in July 2022 in Los Cabos San Lucas Mexico. There were 50 women from all walks of life and about 95% I had never met in person. Many found out about the conference through social media and word of mouth. The next event was held on October 15th, which was a fundraising gala. It sold out during the last days. The Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Wild and Minnesota Lynx donated to the silent auction as well as other businesses from all over the globe.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth road getting this nonprofit up and running. The paperwork was a breeze; however, funding is the biggest struggle along the way. I need a grant writer and someone that knows how and what grants to apply for. Currently, I’m funding through my consulting business. I am literally working to make the nonprofit work so I can help women who are both justice involved and non-justice involved get their lives on track to bigger and better things. Everyone I’ve reached out to in order to help with locating donors or finding funding want to charge for sharing the information. I thought we were all in this together; however I quickly found out that’s not the case and it’s disheartening when you’re trying to do what’s right, maintain your integrity and just want to do the work, but no revenue is coming in. Another struggle is partnering with other nonprofits or business entities to help guide you. We don’t know what we don’t know.

I am the Owner and Founder of LR Wilson Consulting LLC which specializes in personal and professional development. Client support is offered through a series workbooks, conferences, classes, workshops, group coaching and individual coaching. LR WILSON CONSULTING LLC equips clients with skills to live an Empowerment Lifestyle in every aspect of their lives.
I am most proud of the S.H.E.E. Foundation being birthed from the coaching business to help other women find their path.
What sets me apart from others is my ability to talk to anyone and help them realize their birthright of greatness and their purpose. I’m more than just another company, I Am The Brand that everyone knows genuinely cares about everyone having a seat at the table to win.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along this journey is that this isn’t about me. I was given this mission because it’s about helping others get to a place of wholeness in mind, body and spirit so they can pass the torch.
