Life & Work with Lesly Lopez of Minneapolis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lesly Lopez

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m a Latina content creator based in Minneapolis, MN, with a focus on lifestyle, beauty, fashion, wellness, and more! My journey as a content creator began in 2020, inspired by my best friend, who is also in the industry. She guided me through the details of brand collaborations and partnerships and has been my biggest inspiration—without her, I wouldn’t be where I am today!

Outside of content creation, I work full-time as a social worker. My interest in human development and commitment to positively impacting people’s lives led me to earn a bachelor’s degree in developmental psychology from the University of Minnesota. There, I explored the complexities of human growth and behavior. Growing up in a diverse community and witnessing the challenges my family and others faced, especially in accessing social services, deeply influenced my career path. Driven by a desire to address these disparities, I pursued a master’s degree in social work.

Today, I channel my passion into both my roles as a social worker and content creator, blending creativity and empathy to make a meaningful impact. In my social work, I strive to support and uplift individuals and communities, while in my content creation, I aim to inspire and connect with my audience. By integrating my professional skills and personal interests, I seek to drive positive change and foster a sense of empowerment and connection in everything I do.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey has certainly had its challenges. In my content creation career, I faced difficulties with securing partnerships and building an online community. Rejections from brands were disheartening, but my passion for what I do kept me persistent—I continued reaching out to brands despite many moments of wanting to give up. Similarly, my career path has been far from smooth. I’ve navigated significant growing pains, faced barriers to accessing higher education as a first-generation student, and encountered adversity and skepticism along the way. Despite these obstacles, I am profoundly grateful for the unwavering support of my husband, family, and friends. Their encouragement and belief in me have been crucial to my progress and success.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As I’ve mentioned, I am a social worker and recently earned my master’s degree in social work. Currently, I’m in a role that empowers me to serve my community, particularly the Latine community, and provide services entirely in Spanish. I take great pride in helping bridge language gaps and assisting families as they navigate complex systems. I am especially proud of having achieved my master’s degree and being able to give back to the community.
