Life & Work with Mark Joseph of St Paul, MN

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Joseph.

Hi Mark , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello! My name is Mark Joseph. I’ve been on the road as a full time entertainer for 22 years. I’ve performed and traveled all over the world, recorded many LP’s and singles. I started playing guitar when I heard BB King when I was 10 years old. The Blues have always been my cornerstone in music. Many many years of hard work have got me to where I am today. I’ve worked in music business and music marketing as well as performing.

Short Bio:
Mark Joseph is as authentically American as you would want, and as heartfelt and passionate as you can get. Joseph dings all the bells on any given night, indeed darn near every night, chalking up 200+ shows a year, criss-crossing the heartland, from CO to MS, from NY to LA, as the hardest working family music man you will ever know. He is also piling up the albums, roughly one a year, churning out consistently high quality product. All the while he is absorbing and cherrypicking the best America has to offer and finding his unique voice as an artist.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Ha! The road is not always smooth but I am alway grateful for when it is, ya feel me?

Seen a lot of tough days on the road. Blown engines, shady promoters, hitting Deer’s and Elks with the van, chemically addicted musicians and industry leeches, rip off record labels, highway robbery get rich quick managers promising the world…I could go on and on. Van fire was probably the worst. Almost died that day.

You learn to identify these things as time rolls on and save yourself a whole lot of headaches.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My live performance and songwriting creative ability I believe are my strongest skills. Also a natural sense for business.

I do around #170 shows a year and many of the venues / promoters that I work with I’ve know for 20+ years. I’m proud of the fact that I can maintain these relationships / partnerships and I think it shows the kind of entrepreneur that I am. Doing high quality work matters. Doing what you say you are going to do matters. Its not that complicated, yet many struggle to tow that line. I think I stand out on that.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Independent artists are supported by merch sales, show attendance, social links & follows and word of mouth.
If an artist has a subscription based platform like Patreon, thats also a huge way to support the arts.
