Today we’d like to introduce you to Safiyatou Diallo.
Hi Safiyatou, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Of course! So, my journey really started at home. I’ve always been around beauty—my mom owned a hair salon, so growing up, I was constantly surrounded by hair, makeup, and creativity. I actually tried doing hair for a little while, but deep down, I knew makeup was where my heart truly was. Makeup always felt like art to me—like painting a canvas, blending colors, and creating a masterpiece on someone’s face. It was more than just glam—it was expression.
Over time, what started as a passion became something I knew I wanted to pursue full-time. Fast forward to now, I do makeup professionally and have officially launched my own cosmetics line, Lunas Glamz. I recently dropped my first product—my signature lip glosses—and the response has been amazing. This is just the beginning though. I plan on expanding into more products and continuing to build a beauty brand that empowers people to feel confident and beautiful.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road—and honestly, anything involving entrepreneurship rarely is. There are highs and lows. Some days, my energy and creativity are through the roof, and I feel super inspired. Other days, it’s hard to even find the motivation to get up and create. It can feel like you’re pouring your heart into something and not seeing the results right away.
But one thing I’ve learned is that consistency is everything. Even if you can’t give 100% every single day, give something. Maybe one day it’s 5%, the next it’s 10%, or 100%. Even if it’s just 1%—that daily effort adds up. Over time, that’s what builds the momentum, the discipline, and the success of your business.
Another major lesson I’ve learned is the power of promotion. You have to constantly put your brand out there. If you’re not posting online, then get out and hand out business cards. Talk to people. Word of mouth is honestly one of the most powerful tools for growth. That hustle, that mindset of always sharing what you do—it makes a difference.
So no, it hasn’t been smooth. But it’s been worth it. And as long as you keep showing up, giving your best—even on the hard days—that’s what truly matters.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
What do I do?
I’m a makeup artist, but more than that—I’m a confidence builder. Every day, I help women step into their full power and see themselves through a lens of beauty, grace, and boldness. I help them walk out the door feeling like the highest version of themselves—like they own every room they walk into. Makeup isn’t just surface-level to me; it’s transformational. It’s a tool that allows women to express, elevate, and embody their inner goddess.
What do I specialize in?
I specialize in beauty—true beauty. I’m a professional beauty makeup artist, and I’m also the founder and CEO of Lunas Glamz, a cosmetic brand that goes beyond makeup. My brand is rooted in self-love, self-care, and the rituals that help women feel like that girl. Whether it’s a flawless face beat or a silky lip gloss application, I specialize in the small moments that make a woman feel seen, celebrated, and empowered.
What are you known for?
I’m known for the energy I bring to the women I serve. My clients know that when they sit in my chair, they’re not just getting their makeup done—they’re getting poured into. I make women feel radiant, confident, proud of who they are. I bring fun, freedom, and fearlessness into my artistry. I remind women that it’s okay to be bold, to be extra, to be everything they’ve ever dreamed of being.
What are you most proud of?
I’m most proud of launching my first product under Lunas Glamz—my signature lip gloss. Even though it’s just the beginning, it’s mine. I created it from the ground up, every detail chosen with love and intention. It’s a symbol of everything I’ve built and everything I’m becoming. That first product is my legacy in motion, and nobody can take that from me. It represents faith, grit, and vision—and that’s why I hold it so close to my heart.
What sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart is that I stay in my lane. I’m not chasing trends or trying to keep up—I’m creating my own path, at my own pace, in my own rhythm. I’m building something real, something lasting, something that’s me. My work is fueled by purpose, culture, and creativity. I come from African roots, raised by immigrant parents, born of a land rich in gold and power—and that energy lives in everything I do. My formulas, my story, my brand—it’s all infused with heritage, passion, and pride. Lunas Glamz isn’t just a brand. It’s a movement.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories would definitely have to be our family vacations to Savannah, Georgia—especially Tybee Island. I grew up in Atlanta, so those getaways to the coast were always something special. We’d stay in this beautiful resort that had everything—a full kitchen, a cozy living room, and the best pool area ever. I remember waking up to the smell of breakfast cooking, hearing laughter echo through the halls, and feeling so excited to head out for a day of sun, sand, and adventure.
Tybee Island had such a peaceful energy—relaxing by the beach, collecting seashells, splashing in the waves, and just soaking up the sun with my family. Savannah itself is so rich in history, with its cobblestone streets, Spanish moss trees, and that old Southern charm that makes it feel like you’re stepping back in time. Being in such a magical, historic place made everything feel more meaningful.
Some of the moments I hold closest are the little ones—wearing matching outfits with my sisters, having our hair styled by my mom before we went out, and her letting us borrow a little bit of her lip gloss to feel extra pretty. That was the start of my love for beauty right there. It was more than a vacation—it was connection, tradition, and joy all wrapped into one.
