Today we’d like to introduce you to Shirley Cooper-Artis.
Hi Shirley, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
From the moment that I could see, and I could understand patterns, colors, and textures, fashion has been a part of me. Since a kid, it has always piqued my interest, in the infinite ways you could make somebody look.
I remember watching all the fashion shows, Top Model and Project Runway being among my favorites. As I grew older and was able to work, I immersed myself in the retail world. I LOVED all the people that I was able to meet and connect with. This fueled me even more, and I wanted to dive deeper into this world of fashion. And to this day, I’m still diving.
With social media, I can reach more people now than I could have ever done before. Also, I get inspiration from so many others as well. Creating content, and helping others mean the world. I look forward to the future and what it holds for me. Fashion, connects us all, one thread at a time.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The roads worth taking often are never easy. I’ve had my fair share of ups and downs, but growth is where my passion derives from. In the summer of 2020, I opened my online boutique “Modish a Mode.” I finally had something that I could call my own, something with my vision.
This is also the year that my, (now husband), boyfriend at the time proposed to me, and I got promoted to fiancé.
With the impending wedding coming up, I decided to put my brand on the back burner temporarily to focus on that.
Also, I realized that WEDDINGS ARE EXPENSIVE lol!!
It is now 2023 and “Modish a Mode” still sits on the bench, but I don’t view it as a failure. I was able to put forth an idea I had and make it real. Again, growth is where my passion lies. As time has passed, and I’ve grown, my focus now is to get into creative spaces, in the hopes to implement something new in this world.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I would say that I am mostly known for my styling tips and videos. What sets me apart from others is that I have a personality that commands the room.
I am very confident in who I am, and I love to bring that out in others. Also, I just like to laugh and enjoy life, and I believe that it is my genuineness, that people are drawn to.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I live by the ole golden rule. By putting forth what I want to see in the world, I tend to attract good favor.
