Mandy Petschl shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Mandy , thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Welp I took on a second full time job doing commercial sanitation. So I wake up crack of dawn early do my route for the day then I head to Captive Elements to do some tattoos and then go home wash my rags go to bed hopefully early and next day wake up early and do it all again lol!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Mandy. I’m originally from Milwaukee but relocated to my second home the twin cities in 2010. I’ve been tattooing for 23 years. About 6 months ago I took on another full time job in commercial sanitation with Enviro-Master.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My mentor Scott Fredrich really taught me a lot about being a street artist and also being true to myself and the people around me. He was one of a kind and I’ll take those memories with me far beyond retirement from tattooing and into the rest of my days on this planet.
Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
My counselor when I went thru treatment. I mean that was his job but he don’t treat it like that. He genuinely cared and wanted me to succeed in ways I never thought I could. So big thanks to Joe!
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
True friendship and just being present for them and quality time. Be yourself it should be the only version of you you know how to be I mean anything else would be dishonest.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m with clients and my family and friends. Giving them my all and the experience their wanting and needing. Feeling my worth through their experience because it’s also mine and they will always be a part of me as I will be a part of them forever.
