Meet Aaron Phillipe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Phillipe.

Hi Aaron, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started True North Guide Service in 2018. I grew up on Lake of the Woods where my dad was a guide years ago. There are a ton of resorts that offer guided charters for up to 6 people, but I noticed there were very few private guides that offer more personal and custom guide trips. I took the courses and tests needed to guide here and the rest is history. I spend about 70-90 days on the water in the summer guiding first-time and experienced fishermen. I can accommodate up to 4 people. I also offer discounts to vets and first responders.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It’s gone very well. I have a large return rate so I can’t complain. If mother nature would cooperate every day, I would have zero complaints! Haha

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I spent 17 years in law enforcement. I started guiding on my days off until my business grew. I eventually hung up my career in law enforcement after 17 years. I’m very flexible with guiding I don’t have set start and end times. We go when you want. We launch from where you want to go from, and my prices are a little cheaper than everyone else.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Booking a trip with True North, you get hands-on fishing. I teach you the correct techniques to catch fish. We have fun doing it and there’s always guaranteed joking and laughing

Pricing:

  • $400 half day
  • $450 6hr day
  • $525 8hr day ( full day)
  • $25$ off for vets and first responders
