Hi Aman, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
1) When was the business founded? How was it started? Kambium Group was founded in a 2018. After spending over 15years on wall street in New York I decided I wanted to manage and operate my own business. We also wanted to raise our family in Minnesota as my wife is originally from here.
2) What are some other milestones in the company? (Any moves, expansions, renovations, awards, honors)
Acquired Kambium, Inc (Lakeville) in 2018 as the first business, Perfection Custom Closets (Chicago) in 2022, and Distinctive Door Designs (Princeton) in 2024. Between the three facilities we have over 70,000 sft of manufacturing space and over 100 employees.
3) What are the basic services or products that you provide?
Manufacture Custom Closets and Home Storage Cabinetry for Retail and Dealer network. Have dealers nationwide Also manufacture real wood Kitchen Cabinet Doors and Dove Tail drawer boxes for Cabinet Companies.
5) What kind of civic involvement is the company or its employees involved in (volunteer efforts, sponsorships, etc.)? Why are you involved in the activities?
Actively involved with Virtual Aviation of Minnesota, to manufacture Flight Simulator Dashboard panels. Make wood toys and donate them to Children’s Minnesota Foundation each year.
Internship opportunities for students across different schools and colleges in the twin cities.
6) What is the most rewarding part about being involved in your field? Why?
Being able to see peoples spaces come to life with great creative designs which allow them to get the best utilization of their homes.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
7) Why do you like having your business located where it is? Lakeville is a great location to do business in. Access to a lot of good resource and a booming residential market around the twin cities.
8) If the business has local ownership or management, provide some information about the people in these positions? Their hometown? Do they live in the area? How long? Are they involved in civic or community groups?
Business entirely owned by Aman Bajwa, lives in Edina. Owned it since starting in 2018, involved with Virtual Aviation of Minnesota.
9) How did you capitalize the business and how do you strive to maintain a thriving business?
We capitalized the business using our own Equity capital and working with a local MN based community bank – Security Banks. We like a local bank as they understand the community and understand what it takes to run and manage a small business.
10) What advice do you have for other business owners either in your own field or generally? Business ownership can be tough but is also the most rewarding. Keep putting one step behind the other and things will keep moving in the right direction.

4) What is a product or service you provide that many people would be surprised to know?
We manufacture and supply closet parts for multiple closet companies across the country and that is something many people are not aware of because we mainly stay behind the scenes.
