Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Bloomgren.
Hi Amanda, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
In 2010, on a trip to visit other attorney friends in Washington D.C., Katie Hanson and I committed to a dream of owning our own law firm. We knew we would be successful as we had closely helped each other through law school, had maintained a friendship, and during that trip we even tagged team caring for her six-month-old baby.
Bloomgren Hanson was established in 2011. I primarily provide family law services to clients and Katie provides estate planning and probate services. My work consists of helping people through divorce, custody, and child support matters. I enjoy helping clients who come to me with a crisis or problem that seems insurmountable and helping them navigate the problem to a reasonable solution.
Although I am always prepared to argue cases in the courtroom, I prefer helping clients find resolutions through negotiation and mediation. Recently, I started offering ADR and evaluative family law services. This means I act as a mediator or evaluator for families going through family law disputes.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When I started law school, I actually wasn’t sure I wanted to be a lawyer. But almost immediately it felt like the right decision. I liked the challenge and enjoyed learning how to think through problems in a new and unique way. I graduated in 2006 and although I enjoyed the work I was doing at my first firm, I wasn’t finding the exact work I wanted to do.
Even when we started Bloomgren Hanson, I didn’t know I wanted to focus on family law. But, over time I realized it is the right fit for me. It feels good to help people through moments where they don’t know what will happen or what the future will look like and to eventually see them living a best life on the other side of what was at one point a crisis.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Bloomgren Hanson Legal we pride ourselves on being hands-on and cost-effective problem solvers for our clients. We know that hiring a lawyer to solve a legal problem is a big deal for our clients. We try to remember they often are hiring an attorney for the first time or maybe the only time in their lives. Not only is it an expensive proposition, but likely whatever brought them to us is one of the biggest or the biggest things happening in their life at that moment.
We may be dealing with a routine or easy situation for us, but it is an important, confusing, and new process for our client. We take that responsibility seriously and know that walking our clients through the process step by step makes it easier and makes them confident they not only made the right choice in counsel but are making the best choices in how to proceed with their matter.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I love llamas and even held a fundraiser in 2022 called Llama Rama!
