Meet Amy Corr of Zimmerman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Corr.

Hi Amy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey into the nail industry started with my grandmother, who always had a love for nails. I grew up watching and admiring the way she cared for them, and that early influence never left me. Over time, after experiencing too many damaging services at quick “chop shops,” I decided to start doing my own nails. That’s when I fell in love with the process.

What began as personal care turned into a true passion—I realized how important it is for people to have strong, healthy, and beautiful nails. Now, one of my biggest goals is to help others achieve that same confidence and care. For me, it’s not just about nails, it’s about giving people a healthier, more empowering experience.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road for me. Along the way, I’ve faced challenges and had to overcome a few hurdles to get to where I am today. But each obstacle pushed me to work harder, seek out the right mentors, and invest in my education. I’ve completed professional training, while also dedicating countless hours to learning and perfecting techniques on my own. That combination of formal schooling and self-driven practice has shaped me into the nail artist I am today—committed, knowledgeable, and passionate about helping others achieve healthy, beautiful nails.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in gel overlays and gel extensions, with a reputation for creativity and attention to detail. One of my proudest accomplishments has been building my own business and turning something I truly love into a career—when you do what you love, it never feels like work.

What sets me apart is the connection I create with my clients. I take the time to really listen, understand their concerns, and learn what they hope to achieve at each appointment. From there, I’m able to provide thoughtful guidance and personalized care, ensuring they leave not only with beautiful nails but also with confidence in their overall nail health.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
For anyone just starting out in the nail industry, my best advice is simple: invest in your education, take the time to really learn your products, and always be honest with your clients. Professionalism goes far beyond creating beautiful nails—it’s about maintaining a clean environment, being friendly, and showing kindness.

One thing I wish I had fully understood before starting is that everyone’s journey looks different. There’s no single “right way” to build your career in this industry, and comparing yourself to others can hold you back. Focus on your own growth, keep learning, and let your passion guide you.
