Today we’d like to introduce you to Annastasia Root
Hi Annastasia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I never originally had a plan to develop a business, my jewelry designing started all on its own due to me being unable to find a source for jewelry crafted out of different stones that was durable and long lasting. I’ve personally always worn different crystals to help enhance or regulate my energetic frequency, but when you go to a metaphysical shop, your paying the price for the specific material, but generally its on stretchy string. I’m pretty hard on the things I wear so I knew I had to develop a fix for my bracelets always breaking. Over the years I have collected various beads made from stones I love. So in 2022 I decided to start making pieces for myself. As I started creating these pieces, I noticed a lot of people around me complimenting my designs and even wanting similar pieces! So I ordered some more stones from sources I have found and started advertising on my snap chat for my close friends to receive a unique piece. I had moved quite a few, so I decided to try to launch an Etsy. Tried that for about 9 months and absolutely hated it. Fast forward to May of 2022 I had landed in a small apartment with my kid, got fired for the first time in my life from my job and was at about rock bottom, with $50 to my name and unsure of what to do. I was scrolling on Facebook and seen that in the small town next to mine in 5 days had a craft fair looking for artists for a vendor fee of $28. I figured at this point why not, what do I have to lose as I stared at my unpacked boxes from my quick move that were labeled “The Root of Craft” from the Etsy I had tried to get to take off. Reached out to the coordinater, spent the money. Then in the days before the show I had went to the dollar store, purchased some price tags and plastic table clothes, went to my moms and borrowed her laundry tables and rolled into the show with an eighth tank of gas and flat broke. The only thing at that show I was hoping for and would be extremely greatful for was receiving my vendor fee back so I could make it home after the show. To my surprise I left that show, able to pay my car insurance and a few other necessities, a long with being able to order a couple hundred dollars worth of beads from my sources I had discovered. I will never forget putting that order in for beads, spending a couple hundred dollars on that at the time felt absolutely insane, but I chased the gut feeling that I had to do it. Signed up for a few more shows in 2022 and each one to my surprise was an absolute success. Fast forward to 2025, I have met some of the most amazing people on my ventures of vending and getting my work out there. I have a very solid start of a following on my Facebook business page, where I have a lovely community that is full of support and love. My business, is a prime example of energetic transmutation where you take pain, and hardship and utilize that into a different facet in your life of something that you love and sometimes you’ll be surprised where doing so takes you. Now I am able to connect with people in a way, help them learn about themselves, and create beautiful pieces that can be work daily.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been a road full of utilizing my skills, having faith and strength to keep going. There has been times where it was a gamble to keep going and investing in different shows. It’s something I’ve always kept in my mind, that I’m not guaranteed anything. I am very grateful for every purchase and custom order my business receives. its an honor to create for people.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I intentionally hand craft jewelry made from different materials and crystals to be worn that are durable. Some people just think my work is beautiful, or they like to wear their specific birth stone. Others enjoy learning about the energetic properties of each material to help them in navigating life, happy times, or hardships. I have over 72 different materials made with energetic properties defined for people to take with their piece they purchase so they can learn if they so chose to. Materials such as Amethyst, Rose Quartz, Labradorite, or Malachite. I have stones for new collectors, or more rare materials for old collectors. I also have pieces where the materials are intentionally picked out for specific intentions such as self love, attracting luck, easing anxiety. I’m set apart from most jewelry creators because of my years of extensive research due to my own need for the knowledge.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I think that risk is necessary for growth in a business, but its important to make educated risks and investments where the probability of growing is high.
