Meet Annie Coleman of Prior Lake

Today we’d like to introduce you to Annie Coleman

Hi Annie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I began my massage career full-time in 2008 working in different spas, clinics and offices until I finally landed at a local massage franchise. I worked there for 8.5 years when an overuse injury occurred that kept me out of work for almost a year! During that time, I made the decision that I was no longer willing to beat up my body to help build someone else’s empire. I went out to find space to begin my own massage therapy practice. When Covid happened, I was in the process of transferring my business to a new city. The plan was to ease my way in but with the mandatory shut down, I had no choice but to do it cold turkey. Since reopening my doors, this business of mine has continued to flourish and shows absolutely no signs of slowing down! I have a loyal following of amazing women who realize how important it is to maintain and care for their bodies and I am so honored that they entrust that to me. I am nothing but blessed to be able to do this work that I love!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it absolutely has not been a smooth road! But I see obstacles as opportunities to do something different or make something better. The mandatory shutdowns in 2020 allowed me time to rebrand my business and to spend time at home with my then 18-month-old son. Then when I became unhappy in the office I was in, the office that I had wanted (inside the same building) opened up and I jumped at the opportunity to make it my own! Since being in that space, my business has grown so much that I have been a member of the 6-figure earner’s club for the last 3 years with plans to expand into an even bigger space to allow room for other practitioners. I’m a firm believer in seeing the positive in every setback and thus far it has worked out well in my favor.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Certified Massage Therapist specializing in back, neck, and hip pain relief for Women! I think that alone makes me stand out amongst the crowd. I recognized that there are few wellness resources specifically for women and having had issues of my own, I wanted to provide that for others who may be having difficulty as well. I’m beyond proud that my practice has become a go-to for pain relief in this area.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something that might surprise some about me is that I also have an A.A.S. in Medical Assistance. I went back to school for it thinking I would have it as a back-up plan in case I wasn’t able to do massage anymore. I did work as a medical assistant briefly for a local orthopedic center and for a doctor’s office. I didn’t much like it and decided that massage was my chosen profession, so my MA career was quickly abandoned.
