Meet Caitlyn Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caitlyn Williams.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m Caitlyn and I’m the Operations Manager with Twin Cities Catalyst Music. I started out as the Box Office Manager in the year 2015 and have enjoyed learning just about every role within the organization. I wanted to learn how to book shows so I joined the Booking Team early on, which lead to me acting as the Booking Manager of the team, taking me to becoming the General Manager (which also took care of everything in our Cafe) and here we are! Despite everything Covid-19 has thrown at us, I ultimately stepped into the role of Operations Manager where I oversee everything in the organization. I have picked up a few tidbits of technical knowledge, but I’m no Sound Engineer by any means (I leave that position to the Professionals).

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For the most part my journey has been smooth. There have been some sudden times of pressure due to an abundance of roles I’ve been asked to cover, but I always know I’ll get everything taken care of because I LOVE what I do so much.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a non-profit, Twin Cities Catalyst Music thrives on passion. We run two dry, all ages music venues now and none of that would be possible without all of the passion and strength of community we see in our staff and all performers that walk through our doors. We are here to educate performers and help guide them on their musical journeys. Twin Cities Catalyst Music creates safe spaces for all ages to enjoy live music with their friends and families.

At The Garage, in Burnsville, MN, we’ve got 2 stages for live performances as well as a Recording Studio in the back of the venue! Even though the Covid-19 pandemic shut us down for awhile, in order to keep everyone safe, we still managed to diligently work our way through and open a brand new music venue in St. Paul called The Treasury. It has been a crazy journey but I’m so proud of everyone involved to help us get live shows going again through BOTH of our venues now!

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In the coming years, I continue seeing the organization grow and develop more job opportunities for young people. Twin Cities Catalyst Music has always done a great job providing hands on experience for anyone interested in getting involved in the Music Industry, as well as the organization itself.

Otherwise I’m excited to watch both venues grow and bring people together.
