Meet Carolina Nuñez Bussolini of WOODBURY

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carolina Nuñez Bussolini.

Hi Carolina, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hello, I’m Carolina Nuñez Bussolini, a visual artist from Argentina with a lifelong passion for art.

My journey began at a young age, creating on any scrap of paper I could find. Today, I’m inspired by the beauty of music and nature, allowing colors and forms to flow freely in each piece.

Over the years, I’ve explored a wide range of materials and techniques, though abstract art has always felt like home. I see color as pure energy and love blending and transforming it into something truly unique.

A long-held dream of mine was to bring my art into the world of fashion—something I’ve realized through a collection of silk scarves, bikinis, tote bags, kimono robes, phone cases, and leggings inspired by my paintings.

My work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, and I was proud to represent Argentina as a finalist at the Global Art Awards in Dubai.

In 2022, my family and I relocated to Woodbury, Minnesota, where I’m embracing new artistic opportunities, collaborating with local businesses, and continuing to share my art. One of the highlights has been participating in an inspiring project with 3M for Hispanic Heritage Month in 2022.

This year, I was honored to take part in Representing Latinidad for Hispanic Heritage Month at CLUES in St. Paul, and I’m thrilled to have my artwork and scarves featured at Westdale Floral in Minnetonka.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve always dreamed of studying Fine Arts, but many people around me said it wasn’t a realistic career. So I chose a different path—I studied Economics, then Architecture, and eventually graduated in Public Relations while working full-time. Over the next 15 years, I explored different fields and trained in alternative medicine, including Reiki and gem therapy.

But something deeper kept calling me. My curiosity pushed me to read endlessly—about religions, philosophies, ancient symbols—all in search of understanding myself and the world around me. And all along, painting was quietly present. It was my refuge, my therapy, my way of connecting with something bigger than myself.

Years ago, my partner encouraged me to stop waiting and embrace what I truly loved: painting. That moment changed everything. I began creating with purpose, and today, with my family’s support, I’ve committed fully to this artistic path.

Because this isn’t just a job—it’s who I am. This journey is about turning passion into purpose, and sharing that with the world.

Starting my Etsy shop was not easy. I had to overcome many challenges—first, the language barrier, and then the fact that I had no idea how print-on-demand platforms worked. I had to learn everything on my own, spending hours watching tutorials and figuring things out step by step.

I opened a business bank account, learned about taxes, how to list my products, and how to promote them. I had to understand and manage social media, while also painting, designing each piece, sending it to production, and reviewing samples to make sure everything met my expectations. Then came the final steps: launching the product and shipping it to customers.

Every part of the process was new and often overwhelming, but I was determined to bring my art to life in a new way. It has been a journey of growth, resilience, and learning—and I’m proud of how far I’ve come.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As an artist, I am granted the ultimate freedom to express my soul through every stroke, hue, and texture. My work is a journey of self-discovery, where music and nature intertwine to shape my creations. With each piece, I dive deep into the essence of color, letting it resonate within me and guide my hands to create something truly extraordinary.

Art is more than a visual experience; it’s a symphony of emotions and sensations flowing through me, pouring onto the canvas with every ounce of my being. Music leads me into uncharted territories of creativity and imagination, transforming each moment into a unique expression.

The true magic happens when I share my art with the world. Witnessing the myriad interpretations and emotions it evokes in others is a testament to its ability to connect and inspire. When approaching a blank canvas, I draw inspiration from music and nature, immersing myself in sound and color. My artistic journey has led me to explore diverse materials, from recycled sculptures to digital art, though abstract art remains my true calling. I see color as pure energy and delight in blending and experimenting to create works open to endless interpretations.

Since 2017, I’ve fully committed to my art career, embracing larger canvases and vibrant acrylics to express my vision. In Argentina, I had the privilege of participating in over 30 exhibitions, supported by a welcoming community of artists who encouraged me at the start of my journey.

One of my long-held dreams was to transform my art into fashion. After countless hours of dedication, I brought this vision to life through a collection of silk scarves inspired by my paintings.

Being an artist is a path of resilience, growth, and gratitude. It demands skills beyond creation, from self-promotion and networking with galleries to staying current with new trends. The biggest challenge lies in making our work visible—discovering the ‘how,’ ‘where,’ and ‘when’ to share it with the world.

Ultimately, art is a journey of self-discovery and connection. I look forward to collaborating with galleries and designers as I continue to expand my artistic horizons.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Although I don’t currently have a formal mentor, I’ve learned a lot through my own journey of exploration and self-education. I’ve sought inspiration from various artists and professionals, attending workshops, exhibitions, and online communities. The process of self-discovery and the constant drive to improve my craft have been my guiding forces.

In addition, I’ve reached out to fellow artists, shared experiences, and learned from the creative community around me. While I haven’t had one mentor, I’ve found that every interaction and piece of feedback has helped shape my artistic vision and growth.

I’m always open to learning and connecting with others, and I look forward to finding a mentor who can help me navigate the next stages of my journey.
