Meet Carter & Cooper Meyer of Saint Peter, Minnesota

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carter & Cooper Meyer.

Hi Carter & Cooper , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Cooper has always loved cars in fact he is a self proclaimed motor head. In the summer of 2020, at the age of 12, he approached our parents about getting into car detailing. He watched video after video trying to learn the craft and at Christmas he was gifted some start up products and then began practicing on our own vehicles for awhile. It didn’t take Cooper long to realize the level of difficulty and time it required to clean a vehicle, so he started talking to me, his older brother Carter about joining him in the business. In March 2021, Cooper and I, with the help of our parents, decided to open C & C Car Care and we cleaned our first vehicle together. This year we are celebrating our 5th year as young entrepreneurs. Since 2021, we have detailed hundreds of vehicles ranging from side by sides, cars, SUVs, boats, pick-ups, and campers. We have learned so many new things and gained many new experiences over the past 5 years and are extremely grateful for every single connection we have made along the way. We are so excited to see what the future holds for us and our business.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it has not always been a smooth road. Turns out there is a huge learning curve for all of the different tools and products we need to do the best job possible. There are hundreds of products and it takes time to research and select and test the right one for each process. We started mostly with hand tools but have progressed to power tools to help with some of the labor. We had to also learn time management. In the beginning it would take us a full day to clean a simple vehicle, now we can manage a couple of them in one day. One of the biggest challenges was learning to work together. We have learned what each other strengths are and we have capitalized on that. This makes the whole process go so much more smoothly.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Both of us are still students with Cooper being a junior in high school and Carter just starting college at Gustavus Adolphus; it is a challenge to balance schoolwork and our business. The best part is that we are able to do all of the work in our shop at our house. Since we started our business we have upgraded to a shop that is able to fit 5 vehicles and has the added perk of heat and water. So no more running the garden hose and buckets of water out to the garage. We do simple jobs such as just a wash and dry all the way up to a full service detail that includes the engine bay, the trunk or back of a pickup, scrubbing the seats and carpets, washing the exterior, and scrubbing the wheels and tires. We also have additional add on’s such as a ceramic wax, headlight restoration, and cleaning car seats. We take the car seats apart and wash the fabric and plastic, reassemble and put back in the vehicle for our customers. We take a lot of pride in our work, give each other constructive criticism and feedback and together we make sure every final detail is done before returning the vehicle to our customers. People love our story and I think that is what sets us apart. The fact that we are brothers who started a business while we were in middle school and have continued to grow and expand as we enter young adulthood is a huge accomplishment. We prioritize and value connections with our customers; our pricing encourages them to continue to return for on-going detailing and because of this we are able to build relationships them.

How do you think about happiness?
We love to see the smile on our customers faces when they look over their vehicle. We take the time to go through each and every thing with them. We find the most fulfillment in building relationships with our customers. We consider them family once they enter our door and we leave them with our personal touch. We also have the satisfaction of providing them with a service they never knew they needed.
