Meet Chad Peterson of Ramsey, MN

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chad Peterson

Hi Chad, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Do you remember the commercials you grew up with on the radio? I do.

When I was a kid, I found I loved the radio – more particularly, the voices that brought stations to life, and the commercials between the true content.

When I was a teen – I was lucky enough to job shadow at a small but mighty radio station out of Eau Claire, WI. I got to be on air, learn what went into a promo event, create concepts for a marketing campaign – all in one day.

I was hooked, and from that experience I found my place in the greater media industry – part Voice Over Actor, part Marketing Strategist, part Content Producer.

I started on the promo team of a large radio station in Duluth, MN, before moving on to a night club as their promotions manager. This was a volatile time, but from it I found my way into the agency life, where I grew quickly from Social Media Manager, to Media Buyer with Edge Advertising, on to Project, Sr. Project, and Key project Manager with Hubbard Broadcasting, to where I am today as the Director of Marketing and Advertising for the largest powersports product retailer in the world – Dennis Kirk.

All while developing my own voice over business behind the scenes, where I focus on creating great commercials and narrations that tell a story, and drive business.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Ha! Definitely not, Whether you pull out and look at the macro – like trying to redevelop a business process for 100 people or building a voice over business. to the micro, like dealing with a client in crisis who needs their ad dollars to work harder now or a voice over pickup for a piece due in 1 hour. There are always bumps and stumps that lead to bruises and broken bones, but it helps build the character that is your brand and business!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I work in a broad stroke of marketing and creative disciplines, but Voice Over is my number one love and focus.

Im a voice over actor – that is, I lend my voice to various projects that require someone to communicate a message. You’ve heard it before, like a commercial on the radio with a voice trying to sell you a car, or a eLearning module that has a voice teaching you how to login to your account, or the voice of a character in your favorite cartoon! Voice Over is everywhere – but my focus is commercial and retail, with a hint of narration.

Im usually told that my voice is chosen for its bourbon-esque flavor – smooth, with a little bite at the end, translates perfectly for sports, foods, beverages, automobiles, and more. you can get a feel for my voice at chadjovoiceover.com!

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
It’s an askers world – you never know what you could or couldn’t get without asking. So ASK! It could lead to great things, or, another person to ask!

Also -work hard. Nothing is above you no matter how high you sit. Lead by example, figure it out even if you don’t know how, and get the work done. Trust me – it leads to quick growth, and big things.
