Today we’d like to introduce you to Chase Grant.
Hi Chase, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hey! My name is Chase Grant, a Country/Rock singer-songwriter. I was born a small town, dirt road kid, near Rush City, Minnesota. My sister and I were so lucky had two loving parents, who went above and beyond to provide an awesome childhood for us! Our house had alot of love, and alot of MUSIC. From an early age, I cut my teeth listening to everything! From the real country sounds of Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings, to the rocking three guitar army that was Lynyrd Skynyrd all the way up to grunge, modern rock, and todays hits as well. I’ve left no stone unturned when it comes to music (Thank you Mom and Dad).
Music was only a hobby for me until 2021. I had been playing guitar since the age of twelve, when I was gifted with my first guitar (Which I still use today) by our neighbors down the road, Larry and Beverly Rose, both long time midwest country music royalty, and my biggest musical influences. However, I had never even thought about singing until I felt God putting it on my heart, to play and sing for my church worship team. The very first time I EVER sang truly in front of someone, was my wife….the DAY before my audition with Pastor Ben Snyder of The Waters Church. My wife was crying, and I asked “Wow, was it really that bad?” She wiped her tears, and told me how blown away she had been by the performance, and re-assured me that I had a gift, and to USE IT.
So I have been. from church worship, to solo/duo gigs with Max Hageman (Relax with Max), and with my band “The Farmer’s Daughters” all across the state, in every bar, restaurant, street dance, or county fair you can think of, I have been absolutely GRINDING, Last summer even getting to open for country music superstars like Easton Corbin, and Eli Young Band.
Songwriting has been a big part of my journey. I’ve written and released five original songs, two covers, and am currently working on releasing an acoustic EP with my producer Sam Snyder, this summer called “The Front Porch Sessions”. I write from the heart. I write about my kids, my wife, about mental health struggles, and I write about God. That might not be the COOLEST thing to some people, but its real, it’s me, so I don’t mind, because it’s working, and God is on the move.
This year at the same time, has been the hardest year of my life. In January, we found out that my unborn son, has a major heart defect, and will need multiple surgeries after birth. The last five months have been a roller coaster of emotions, simply waiting, and gathering information, and preparing for his arrival. There are so many unknowns, but God has brought so many good people into our lives very recently, who have been here to support us, and I can’t even begin to explain how thankful I am for that.
God is on the move.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Trying to balance being a husband, a father, working full time as a union welder, and gigging sometimes FIVE times a week is very hard. However, I have a strong support system at home with my wife, she is absolutely amazing. She knows my heart and we make it work, week after week!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I started in the workforce in 2016, as a welder fabricator, at a few different facilities! I worked for a company that built a variety of fire trucks, one that built large grain bins for industrial farming, and most recently i’ve been at a place that builds transport tanks/trailers that haul a variety of products including food-grade products, chemicals, and petroleum.
I started playing music professionally in 2021. I play a variety of shows including, public venues, private parties, corporate events, weddings, and assisted living facilities!
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The upper midwest music scene has a huge amount of outstanding musicians, AND music producers. I could see this region becoming the northern “Nashville” in the next five to ten years, and i’m excited to be a part of it.
