Today we’d like to introduce you to Chevy Quis.

Chevy Quis

Hi Chevy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
Today, I wear many hats. I am a dad first and foremost, and I have been doing music since I was 14 with my cousin and uncle; this started in Minneapolis at my grandma’s house on the south side. It grew to something bigger during and after high school. We added a few more members and started doing events where the team would throw shows where our peers wore color-coordinated apparel, and everyone was united.

From 2015 to 2017, my team was heavily involved with the music scene in the cities. There were plenty of groups of music collectives, promoters, and artists throwing many events. Some names include Mill City Collective, Famous Gang Ent, Nu Music Group, and The Boat shows that Dj Dmill would throw yearly. Sound Set was still a thing, and Shut Up and Rap was also prominent.

In 2017, 2018 The Team and I went to Los Angeles 3 cars deep, wanting to pursue music fully; we did shows like Dabathon Cup and Rolling Loud, Got into Dash radio and had interviews, Got up with Backstage Dave, and got into some prestigious Parties and Fashion Shows and I ended up catching the eye of Ivree Productions, where Ivree Moore of Capitol records was doing Artist Development and Branding.

This changed my whole thinking on what it was to be an artist and musician and let me know my areas of focus and what the Majors look for in artists. This led me to meet a few executives at a couple of Publishing companies where I was offered publishing deals, and through knowledge from artist development, I was able to use resources to land a distribution deal with Sound Republica in South Korea; another Important thing was While I was out there I linked with Tha Rift, He and his wife were already in the industry, and I was able to be part of the SadePRMgmt as a client.

I soon found myself at all sorts of Hollywood events: the Soiree, The Grammys pre-party and after-parties, Hollywood digital events, Movie premiers, and The Whole Nine. I even stood right behind Mario Lopez while waiting for my turn on the Red Carpet, and he is a lot taller on television. I met even more Music and Creative professionals and added them to the contact list. Eventually, with California’s strict covid policies, everything started to slow down around 2020 – 2021 with quarantine and exposure regulations. I began to want to be closer to family, took all my knowledge and connections, and decided to open Six Twelve Productions LLC.

While I was out there, I attended Point Blank Music School Los Angeles and took online classes; it’s the same School Skrillex attended! I got my Music Production Master Diploma, So with Six Twelve Productions, We offer Full-scale music services, Songwriting, Production, Mixing/Mastering, and consulting using my experience and contacts to help others connect the dots and navigate the industry. My newest venture, which I am also involved with, is working with the Non-Profit Rock the Cities. Working in the fashion industry as a model, I want to leverage as many contacts as these two industries go hand in hand and work together with peers to create a situation where the artist put their best foot forward and go about their music and other endeavors like a business.

Please talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned. Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Challenges were always present; I grew up in an urban neighborhood and think society recognizes the struggle. I was always in between houses. Pops lived on the north side, and moms lived on the south side or south of the river. I got into trouble as a teen and had my share of beef and running around being a menace to society, but as I got older, I learned to control more of that and minimize those types of interactions. In Los Angeles, the biggest obstacle was staying motivated and staying focused. I came here with a goal and purpose, and I fulfilled it, but not without issues here and there. Being homesick, family members passing, and my love life were a lot to juggle while being in California dream chasing and traveling back to Minnesota every month, ensuring I was still fulfilling my fatherly duties.

As you know, we’re big fans of Six Twelve Productions LLC. What can you tell our readers who might need to be more familiar with the brand?
