Meet Danielle Burton-Haselrig

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Burton-Haselrig.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve worked many different types of jobs in my lifetime–mostly in veterinary medicine. I was in vet med for about 15 years and working as a Practice Manager when the pandemic hit. I was burnt out, working 60 plus hours a week and with the pandemic and having a parent that was high risk, I knew I wasn’t going to be able to maintain that.

Since I was a little girl I wanted to be one of two things a vet or a real estate agent. I loved going to look at open houses with my mom after church on Sundays when I was younger. It was our thing. So when we got our first stimulus check, I quit my job with the blessing of my partner and signed up for real estate school.

I finished my coursework and dove in headfirst. Since beginning my career, I’ve had the honor of being part of the NAACP Housing committee working with state representatives and other great members of that organization and running a study group for people that were working on getting their license. Currently, I’m on the board for Onward Eden Prairie which is a transitional housing nonprofit, a member of Keller Williams Sports and Entertainment and working on my instructor training for KW Kids Can Quantum Leap program–along, of course, with pursuing my goals as a Realtor.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I would tell anyone that was looking to get into this field to make sure they have an amazing support system and find the right brokerage to work for once they’re licensed. There have been days where I just sat and cried in my office and my coach would walk by and see me and immediately come in and build me back up. My parents and my partner and my kids have been my absolute cheerleaders and I’m so grateful for that.

The coursework was intense–going through it alone in front of a computer for 90 hours was one of the most painful things I’ve ever had to accomplish but my support system kept me going. Then when I became an agent I had no idea how to work for myself! It was a tough realization. Luckily, I have an amazing accountability partner and coach that points me in the right direction and keeps me focused.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a Realtor partnered with Keller Williams Realty Elite based in Eden Prairie, MN.

As a Realtor, I specialize in quite a few things actually– First Time Homebuyers, Mid Luxury to Luxury Listings and Buyers, Divorce Listings and Buyers and Sports and Entertainment Housing, Listings and Buyers.

I am most proud of my vision for my future in this career which is to purchase at least 5 homes that I can rent to people escaping domestic abuse at a low cost. Also, my work with Onward. Homelessness is something I truly believe that we can put an end to as a society. Everyone deserves to have a place to call home.

I don’t think I’m your average agent and maybe I don’t know that to be completely true because I know so many awesome agents. I really enjoy spending time with my clients, getting to know them and their families and their pets ( I have to get that puppy and kitten fix still)–I want to help them accomplish their goals and their dreams and connect them with people that can help them do that.

Really, when I think about it, more than anything, becoming a real estate agent–for me– was life-changing and I want everyone that I work with experience the joy I feel coming to work every day.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I’m a super nerd (and proud of it)! I love all things science, space, movies and music–anime, the Muppets. I really enjoy learning new things and having new experiences. That’s living life to me.

Pricing:

  • Buyers don’t pay real estate agents but they may have to pay a brokerage fee (my brokerage fee is $599.00) and that’s at the closing table
  • Sellers will pay 7% for my commission and then again $599.00 for the brokerage fee at closing
