Meet Dirty Bottles of Minneapolis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dirty Bottles

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Dirty Bottles isn’t your average cover band. We bring high-energy performances featuring your favorite hits, from classic rock to today’s top 100, with a unique twist that keeps the audience moving. Get ready to sing along, dance the night away, and experience music that unites generations. Fun fact: half the group originally hails from Wisconsin, adding a touch of friendly rivalry (especially during football season) to our already strong bond. This mix of perspectives and personalities is what fuels our infectious energy and creates a truly entertaining live show.

These seasoned musicians are no strangers to the stage. With Dirty Bottles’ six members – Ayla Lokkesmoe (vocals), Josh Grant (vocals), Nate Cooper (vocals, guitar), Mike Gehrman (guitar), Shawn Madin (bass), and Jack Lund (drums) – boasting years of experience in various bands and projects, you’re guaranteed a polished and unforgettable show.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Minneapolis boasts a vibrant live music scene with a lot of talented acts vying for stage time. This competitive environment, coupled with the realities of limited venue budgets and occasional communication delays, necessitates a strategic approach to booking. We actively build strong relationships with venues and booking agents, showcasing our track record of audience engagement and ability to create a dynamic live experience. This proactive approach helps us secure gigs that are mutually beneficial for both the venue and the band.

As a six-piece band with a high-energy performance style, one challenge is ensuring our setup seamlessly integrates with different venues. We require a stage and production that allows us to deliver our full sonic potential. To do so, we maintain open communication with venue staff to collaborate on technical aspects and ensure a flawless performance that utilizes the full potential of both the space and our sound.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
While a lot of cover groups tend to focus on a particular genre, era, or even a specific band to build their setlists around, we have a very eclectic (and robust) offering of songs that delivers something for everyone. By having 3 vocalists (both male and female), and leveraging a variety of instruments, we are able to perform a lot of songs that other bands likely wouldn’t.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Feel free to reach out to us via our website, social channels, or directly by email ([email protected]). We play regularly around the Twin Cities, Wisconsin, and even the Dakotas. We always encourage folks to come check us out for a live performance or catch one of our recordings on YouTube!
