Today we’d like to introduce you to Drake Friesen.
Hi Drake, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
When I was in college one of my best friends had a camera. We would go around our campus and take photos. After I graduated, I bought a camera for myself and would take photos of the places I would travel to. As I’ve grown with learning how to use the camera, I’ve become so enamored with trying to find visual beauty in anything. I love immersing myself in a situation and discovering how to capture the energy of whatever I am covering. I’ve grown in the last few years to becoming a professional photographer in many areas. I love the variety of it and being a part of some amazing experiences through it. I now brand myself as an Event/Music/Wedding/portrait/Lifestyle photographer.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think it is easy to stick with what you know in photography. It’s difficult to step out and try to change the style of your photos or photographing in a new environment. I’ve learned to just embrace new things and trust that process will grow my abilities. Mistakes will happen, but that is where progress happens.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m someone who loves utilizing lighting to create the most beautiful photos I can. I love capturing the stage lighting in concerts to create the most unique images. I love shooting in natural light too!
What was your favorite childhood memory?
I always loved music growing up. I think my favorite memory as a kid is playing music with my best friends in one of our parent’s basements. I played keyboard and bass.
