Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Nichols.
Hi Elizabeth, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I began my Minnesota Craft Beer journey shortly after returning home from 4 years in Canada for University. I had just been introduced to the incredible craft beer industry that Minnesota has and I began posting photos on my personal Instagram occasionally and really beginning to love doing so. My friend, Kelly Hagenson, who is a photographer for the University of Minnesota inspired me to create a separate Instagram account for just my beer adventures. It all began at Pryes Brewing Company in Minneapolis in October of 2019.
We typically go to breweries together because we both have the same interests in trying all the different styles of beer, so most of the time she will be featured in my post in one form or another!
My instagram account was made for fun and continues to be strictly for fun for me and to be able to share with other members of the beer community. I became an Ambassador for Stacked Deck Brewing Company in St. Paul and I got to share my adventures working at the Beer Dabbler for them and other small tasting events.
Speaking of Beer Community: Minnesota’s beer community is so incredibly fun and nice! I have met so many other people just through attending meet ups at Black Stack brewing and Aegir Brewing company. It has brought me closer to people who have like minded interests as me.
My instagram does mostly remain Minnesota based beer content, however, when I get the chance to travel, I will always share the beers I am drinking! I have been able to post about beers in Utah (as I was hiking the National Parks), beers in Oklahoma (when I was visiting a friend), and beers in Italy (attended my sister’s wedding in September of 2021).
It has been such a blast sharing my passion for the craft beer industry but also being able to have fun while doing so!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My biggest struggle is finding the time to attend the meet ups I want to go to. I unfortunately work on Saturday’s when most of the meet ups occur but beyond that it has been more of a fun way to express my passion!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In my everyday life, I am a Leasing Manager for an apartment complex in Downtown Minneapolis. I love speaking with people and learning people’s stories. The building I work at is filled with people from so many different states and countries and it is so interesting to learn their stories and why they are from Minneapolis.
I am an extremely hard worker and I will give my all when it comes to my work and making sure the company I am with is exceeding expectations.
A fun thing I am known for at my job is knowing all of the Residents dogs names. This was how I began to recognize our residents while we were still wearing masks. It has now benefitted me because people are so impressed that I remember their dogs names and it shows that I am going above just being a sales person and getting them in the door.
This translates into my Beerstagram because I am able to connect with people in a digital setting and be able to show my personality through Instagram as well. I do help run my works Instagram as well to show how fun our Resident Events can be and living at our property.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I do not take very many risks in my life just due to the fact that taking risks scares me but I am known to spearhead things in my life to get things off my chest or to be as truthful as possible.
In the past creating an Instagram to showcase my passions would have been embarrassing to me and I would have been too afraid to do so. I feel like once I left University and came back home, I became more confident in doing the things that make me happy and I guess that would be the biggest risk I have taken.
