Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Mueller.
Hi Eric, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I often feel that I think differently than others. As a child, I would investigate and study my toys and surroundings before jumping straight into play mode. I believe that this mindset drives me to this very day; a desire to think and approach situations with a sense of curiosity and awareness.
My story begins in Winona, MN. I was blessed to grow up in a supportive family dynamic with parents who always encouraged me to chase my dreams. After finishing high school as a Minnesota State Champion in Track & Field, I went on to St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN to compete in NCAA Cross Country and Track & Field, as well as to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology. We won the NCAA DIII National Championship in Cross Country in 2013 and finished as National Runner-Up in 2014. My interests in the sciences then led me to pursue a Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy. Following graduation from OU in 2020, I went on to complete a one-year PGY1 pharmacy residency at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. Currently, I practice as a hospital pharmacist at Mayo Clinic on the Methodist Campus in the heart of downtown Rochester, MN. I love to travel and am often road tripping or flying around the country to weddings and other social gatherings.
I am still an avid runner having trained for several half-marathons and plan to compete in a full marathon within the next year. My passion for entrepreneurship blossomed over the years, which led me to create The Eric Mueller Show, the podcast where I explore what makes any successful person’s inner clock tick. Additionally, I co-founded an e-learning company called PharmLaw which provides high-quality quizzes for pharmacists preparing to take their state law licensure exams. In an effort to further develop as a budding entrepreneur, I am currently enrolled in an MBA program set to begin this summer (July 2022).
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Trying to do too many things at once. That is the biggest challenge I have wrestled with thus far. I have many passions and interests, and at times, they seemingly pull me in all sorts of different directions. Multitasking has become embedded in our society as the way to do things, but scientifically, our brain can only truly focus on one task at any one given time. I have found that my most productive moments happen when I take a deep breath and focus on one objective. Small, consistent progress each day towards a goal will take you far.
Another obstacle I have faced while building my personal brand is obscurity. You might have a great podcast, product, or service, but what if no one knows about it? How can you get people to know who you are or what you do? Since starting my podcast, I have worked diligently to amass a following on social media and maintain a consistent presence in that space. Progress each day!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
The Eric Mueller Show was born out of a strong desire to build an authentic personal brand shortly after finishing pharmacy school. In each episode, I ask my guests the following 3 core questions:
Success: What is your definition of success?
Inner Clock: The backbone of my show is to explore what makes any successful person’s inner clock tick. What is the one, single driving force that keeps your inner clock ticking towards success?
The Success Portfolio: An investment portfolio is the compilation of investments that lay the foundation for financial goals. I want to discover how successful people “invest” in themselves and build the foundation for their success. What are the 3 skills, traits, habits, mindsets, and attributes that make up your success portfolio?
My goal is to never stop learning. I spend a lot of time on personal development, and much of the content I consume is geared towards entrepreneurship and personal growth. I am just about to complete Andy Frisella’s “75 Hard” program, which is all about developing mental toughness and winning the war within yourself. If you haven’t heard of this program, definitely check it out!
Additionally, I am passionate about cryptocurrency, Web3, and NFTs (non-fungible tokens). I recently attended VeeCon, the first NFT-ticketed conference in the world, in Minneapolis, MN. The power of community within the NFT space is inspiring to me.
My podcast has been an incredible avenue to meet and learn from brilliant and inspirational individuals. I love listening to other podcasts too. Some of my top recommendations are Real AF with Andy Frisella, The GaryVee Audio Experience, The Jordan Harbinger Show, and Entrepreneurs on Fire.
What are your plans for the future?
I plan to create a Fortune 500 company and be included on Forbes 40 Under 40. Ambitious, yes. Achievable, also yes. My professional background is in healthcare, but I am keeping an open mind in regard to which industry to build this business. The best piece of advice I received from a past interview guest on my show was to “become the best solution to a real problem.” I am excited to begin my MBA program and learn additional skills to help make my dream a reality.
I am also a huge Minnesota Vikings fan, and I’m hopeful that one day we’ll get that elusive Super Bowl title! #Skol
