Meet Ericka Boyum of Boyum By Design

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ericka Boyum.

Ericka Boyum

Hi Ericka, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I spent the first 15 years of my career in hospitality. Starting as a dishwasher in a local supper club along the Minnesota River in LeSueur. I eventually went on to run a full-service resort along the Gunflint Trail near Grand Marais. I have since grown roots in Duluth next to Great Lake Superior. I have always had an eye for design, and over the past 2 years fell face-first into minimalistic design.

I can pull out what I love in my environments and enhance these environments with the objects I surround myself with. This of course is only achieved if you are willing to develop a minimal mindset. I am very passionate about what I do through Boyum By Design, and how I serve my community.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
What’s a smooth road? There is no such thing, nothing in this reality is perfect. Trauma and terror lurk everywhere, but having an eye for the details can find beauty everywhere. Losing everything you ever had is traumatizing, losing loved ones to suicide and alcoholism is earth-shattering, years of toxic relationships are soul-sucking.

Whatever you going through, if you don’t believe you deserve better, you will never gain enough momentum to not feel the bumps. When you start to release physical objects in your life, you unlock the ability to release mental clutter. Once you start releasing mental clutter you make space for new. A new mindset = New Results.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Boyum By Design?
Boyum By Design is a home staging and organization company. I create healthy thriving environments that are not only sustainable but also surrounded by only the things you love. What sets me apart from others is my passion for my mission.

My mission is to help create a world that lives in harmony with the natural world. I do this by mentoring clients into a pursuit of minimalism. Or inspire clients with a re-design of their space to enhance the less is more feelings.

What do you think about happiness?
My love for Jesus, my husband, and our three children. Without them I am nothing. Jesus keeps me aligned with my greatest gifts and highest good.

My husband supports and loves me unconditionally. My creativity is driven by my kids. They are all very different, and each of them stretches my thinking on a daily. Everyone should have a four-legged friend, mine is named Geo. He is cute and fluffy and full of love.
