Meet Gene Pease of Havner Homes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gene Pease.

Hi Gene, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve been helping people buy and sell homes for three years now, but my journey of making a difference in people’s lives started well before that. My previous career was as a wedding photographer, and I loved being there to document and emotionally support the couple.

Over time, I realized that I wanted a career that allowed me to keep making a positive impact on people’s lives. With my growing fascination for homes and interior design, real estate seemed like a natural fit. There’s nothing quite like helping someone find their dream home and create lasting memories there.

I’m known for my ability to understand people’s unique needs and wants when it comes to a home. I’m also a creative problem-solver who loves to think outside the box to find solutions to any challenges that may arise. And when it comes to properties, I’ve got a sharp eye for the potential that others might miss.

Overall, being a realtor is the perfect way for me to combine my passion for helping people with my love of homes. It’s a joy to play a part in such a significant investment and help people find the home of their dreams.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a business is not for the faint of heart. When I decided to embark on a new career path, it felt like I was starting from scratch. I had to learn the ins and outs of a whole new industry and figure out how to create value in my unique way. It wasn’t always easy, but with time and practice, I gained the skills and confidence to create something truly special. I learned to play to my strengths and find ways to stand out from the crowd.

Overall, the journey of starting a business has been an incredibly rewarding experience. There have been plenty of ups and downs, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come. With every obstacle I faced, I found new ways to grow and improve.

We’ve been impressed with Havner Homes, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At heart, I’m a creative soul who’s passionate about real estate. With a background in various creative fields spanning over 15 years, I bring a unique perspective to the world of reality. I use my creative instincts to drive my business forward and serve my clients in a way that sets me apart from others in the field.

My creativity comes into play in many aspects of my work. When marketing a property, I think outside the box to showcase its unique features and draw in potential buyers. I also use my creative problem-solving skills to help my clients find financing solutions that work for their individual needs. With my photography background, I have a keen eye for capturing those precious moments that come with the excitement of buying a new home.

From the initial house hunt to closing day, I love documenting the journey for my clients. Overall, I feel incredibly lucky to be able to combine my passions for creativity and real estate in my work. It allows me to offer a truly unique experience to my clients, one that’s focused on bringing their visions to life and making their dreams a reality.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
In the short term, the housing market is going through a shift, but I believe that it’s ultimately a positive thing. Over the past few years, the market has been incredibly unstable due to Covid, low-interest rates, and an inventory shortage. This made buying a home a challenging experience for many clients.

However, a recent spike in rates has slowed the market down, and we’re now seeing rates stabilize around 4-5%. While inventory levels remain low, competition among buyers has decreased compared to previous years. Looking ahead to 5-10 years, it’s difficult to predict exactly what will happen in the housing market. However, one thing is clear: home values continue to appreciate.

If you’re looking to get the largest return on your investment, now is a great time to buy. I believe that interest rates will stabilize between 4-6% and that this range will persist for a while. Unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll ever see rates return to the ultra-low levels we saw in the past.
