Hi Greta, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Starting my own business has been a huge learning curve for me. I officially started Fun at First Sight Fairytale Parties in the summer of 2021. As the name of my business suggests, my goal is to make fantastical and enjoyable experiences available for everyone. I have always wanted to be able to go to a major theme park, but due to the high expense of such a trip, it has not happened. This led me to consider how many children and families witness a similar reality. Consequently, I decided to change the fate of such a situation by making affordable entertainment available to my community and beyond. Ever since I made this decision, I have been doing constant research regarding small business and character entertainment. Fun at First Sight Fairytale Parties is still very much a baby company, but I know that if I keep on working hard, I will be able to grow my dream into a success!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting my business has not been easy by any means. Every time that I think I might have things figured out, I realize that there is still so much more that I need to learn about and implement. A couple of the major struggles that I have had to contend with are Covid-19, and making my company known. Covid put a halt to when I originally wanted to debut my company, due to the mandates that were put in place. This virus continues to make my job difficult due to the extra precautions that need to be heeded in order to keep everyone involved at a party or event safe.
The other challenge I have been working on conquering, is making my target audience aware of my services. I know that I will not be able to grow my business without folks knowing of the existence of my business.

Fun at First Sight Fairytale Parties can best be described as a children’s party entertainment business, which specializes in creating magical experiences for families at birthday parties, events, parades, and the like. My business is known for bringing beloved characters to life in a realistic, professional, and fun manner. Currently, what I am most proud of in regards to my business, is the fact that it exists. I have grown so much during the process of bringing Fun at First Sight to fruition, and I am very pleased that I have enough grit to be able to stand by my dream no matter how bumpy the road may be. Honestly, what truly sets my business apart from companies of a similar nature, is me. I am the heart of my business and that cannot be changed or duplicated by anyone. Due to this, my business offers distinct and highly specialized services. I strive my best to constantly perfect my business a little more every day.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I believe that the most valuable lesson I have learned from the Covid-19 Crisis is that I should not take anything for granted. Even if something seems like it should be able to occur without any obstacles, that reality can change in an instant. Thus, I have been incorporating this knowledge into my business by creating multiple options for character interactions. This way, if something impedes the opportunity for in-person events, there still will be alternative ways that children can experience the joy of interacting with his/her favorite characters.
