Meet Heather Gaston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Gaston.

Hi Heather, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hello, my name is Heather. I started my business journey 2 years ago. I was working as a covid screener I have been in the medical field for almost 28 years now. My daughter had told me that she had cracked feet and dry heels. She is also a business owner and is on her feet a lot. I love to heal in that aspect I know the importance of taking care of yourself and loving yourself. I told her, of course, I will.

In the first attempt with my sugar scrubs, I included food coloring the product worked great except for the food color which was not a great idea but I continued and I definitely have not given up. I have been to the farmers market and now I do have my products in a few stores.

I absolutely love to create new ideas and products. My dream is to become the next black Victoria’s Secret or Bath and Body. I keep on improving my products. This is my third attempt and I keep on striving to do my best. Because loving what you do is very important. My kids my granddaughters and my best friend are truly my biggest supporters.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My motto is failure is easy and success is harder. Being that I am not originally from Minnesota sometimes has made it a little difficult. If you want to succeed you have to love what you do. I am always educating myself on what I put into my products so when customers ask me why I chose to create them this way I make sure that I have the correct answer for them.

I love to teach people the importance of taking care of their skin. I remember going to the farmers market and maybe if I was lucky selling one thing. But I didn’t give up I went back that next weekend and did it all over again.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have been in the healthcare field for almost 30 years. I have always wanted to take care of people. But as I have gotten older I realize that my journey in life is to help realize people the importance of self-care and self-love. This year I have donated some of my products to local nonprofit organizations. I want women to know that they matter. I continue to motivate myself and women entrepreneurs and educate them on the importance of taking care of themselves and loving themselves better.

I received my first dollar award for black history month. I take thanks to my daughter for paving the way for local BIWOC. What sets me apart from others is that support local women entrepreneurs and volunteer in my community. I am very proud of not giving up. I am also very proud that I was recognized for your magazine and remember to always be thankful for the little things. My granddaughters for the love they have to make sugar scrubs with me.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
