Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasper and Jade by Feanna
Hi Jasper and Jade, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Jasper and Jade Salon started with Arcadian Salon. I had been lashing at Arcadian for a few years already, but as a new lease term was coming up, the owner of the salon, Kelly Blomquist, was ready to turn a new leaf and spend more time with her family. I was considering taking over the salon, but owning was never really in my plans. To be honest, I was intimidated by the thought of doing it all alone, so I decided to reach out to my cousin, Taylor Brenteson. She was currently working at another salon, but I loved her work, so I asked if she would be interested in co-owning the salon with me. Surprisingly, she was already considering making a career shift! It only took her a week to confirm that she was 100% all in and ready to take a leap of faith with me. We immediately started working on a business plan and started dreaming of how we wanted our salon to look and feel.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There were minor hiccups and learning opportunities along the way, but to be honest, the majority of the process went relatively smooth. Kelly allowed Taylor and I to begin updates the salon before we even signed the lease. During Christmas break of 2023, while all the stylists were out, we were busy tearing down old stations, building new ones, and took on the daunting task of painting. Speaking of painting, that was probably the biggest frustration. It took us seven coats of white paint to cover the previous cream without streaks. Thankfully, the black only required two! Over the following months, we slowly made final design and decor changes as our personal budgets allowed. By May 1st, 2024, Jasper and Jade Salon was official! We’re so grateful to Kelly and the other stylists for their trust and patience through-out the process. A big shout-out is also owed to our friends and family who helped bring Jasper and Jade to life. You guys are the best!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Jasper and Jade Salon has a fresh, fun, eclectic, and cozy vibe where clients and stylists alike feel at home. All of our stylists are independent, so our salon operates by appointment only. Our services range from haircuts and colors to hand-tied hair extensions and eyelash extensions!
Guests love that we are nestled above the award winning Ember Coffee Company, so they can treat themselves to an excellent cup of coffee after pampering themselves.
How do you think about luck?
We wouldn’t call any of it luck. At our first official business meeting, I wanted to tell Taylor how everything felt very divine, but I didn’t want to scare her with my feelings of faith. It was at that very meeting that I noticed she had “divine” tattooed on her arm. That shook me. From that point on, when things continued to fall into place, it was less scary and more confirming that we were on the right path.
