Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Amaral.
Hi jennifer, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
About six years ago, I found myself at the culmination of a profound master journey in plant medicine—a milestone in becoming both an asa paqo and a modern shaman. It was during this pivotal moment that something unexpected unfolded. For twelve hours, I walked with Jesus. Now, I’m not a religious person—so this was not only unusual but life-altering. He didn’t speak of traditional scripture; he called me to create a space—a modern gathering that would embody what he truly came to teach.
This wasn’t about the teachings you’d find in the Bible or the dogma that’s been shaped by others. He shared that we each hold an inner temple—a light within ourselves. And this space would be a temple of that truth. A place where community could come together, not to follow old narratives, but to explore the depth of who we truly are.
He asked me to guide others to break free—to release limiting beliefs, to cut generational cords, and to shed attachments that were never truly ours. He wanted us to help others reclaim who they are at their highest, most authentic self. And yet, I argued. I thought, “Who am I to do this?” But he insisted: “Don’t dim your light, sister. You are the teacher. You are the light.”
In that moment, I learned that true authenticity is not found in comfort—it’s found in stepping forward. This studio Insumataq is that step forward. It is the culmination of my purpose as a transformational business professional, a coach, a modern medicine woman—someone who, like you, has broken through her own barriers.
Here, we gather to heal: through somatic release, through reprogramming beliefs that are no longer ours, and through breaking generational cycles. This space exists so each person can discover their most authentic, empowered self. This is where my passion and purpose align—so that, together, we can all walk toward the light within.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Insumataq Studio began with a vision: to create a space where people could come as they are, reconnect with themselves, and feel supported as they navigate the stresses and transitions of life.
Opening the studio was more than opening the doors to a physical space. It was the beginning of a community.
Every step of the journey—from imagining what the studio could become, to creating the space, welcoming our first clients, building our team, and expanding our offerings—has been guided by one question:
How can we create a place where people feel safe enough to slow down, reconnect, and discover what they truly need?
Over time, Insumataq has grown into more than a studio. It has become a place for connection, movement, nervous system support, personal growth, healing, and community.
Through classes, workshops, retreats, one-on-one experiences, sound, movement, meditation, breathwork, and special community events, we continue to explore different ways of helping people come back into relationship with themselves.
And our journey is still unfolding.
As Insumataq continues to grow, our intention remains the same: to create meaningful experiences that help people move from stress and disconnection toward greater awareness, balance, connection, and possibility.
We are deeply grateful for every person who has walked through our doors and become part of this story.
Insumataq isn’t just a place you come to. It’s a place to come back to yourself.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Insumataq Studio is a wellness and personal transformation studio created to help people slow down, reconnect with themselves, and find practical ways to navigate stress, anxiety, burnout, and the demands of everyday life.
What makes Insumataq unique is that we don’t believe there is one path to feeling better. Every person is different, so we bring together a variety of experiences that support the mind, body, and nervous system. Our offerings include movement and fitness classes, meditation, breathwork, sound healing, workshops, community events, retreats, and personalized one-on-one experiences.
But what we are most known for is the way people **feel** when they walk through our doors.
We have worked hard to create an environment that feels welcoming, grounded, and free of judgment. You don’t have to be experienced in yoga, meditation, spirituality, or wellness to belong here. You don’t have to have everything figured out. You can simply show up as you are.
One of the things that sets us apart is our focus on helping people understand what they personally need rather than giving everyone the same solution. Someone may come to us because they’re overwhelmed, disconnected, exhausted, or simply know that something in their life needs to change. Our goal is to meet them there and help them discover the practices and experiences that support them best.
Community is also at the heart of Insumataq. From our regular classes to drumming circles, sound experiences, workshops, retreats, and other special events, we intentionally create opportunities for people to connect—not only with themselves, but with one another.
Brand-wise, I am most proud that Insumataq has continued to grow without losing the heart behind why it was created. It isn’t about following the latest wellness trend or trying to fit people into a particular box. It’s about creating a space where real people can explore, grow, move, rest, connect, and experience something meaningful.
Ultimately, we want people to know that **you don’t need to wait until something is wrong to take care of yourself.** Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is create space to listen to yourself again.
Insumataq is more than a studio or a collection of classes. It’s a community and a place to come back to yourself.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along this journey is that I don’t have to do everything myself for the vision to remain mine.
When I first opened Insumataq Studio, I poured so much of myself into it. Like many business owners, I thought being committed meant being involved in everything. I wore all the hats, solved the problems, carried the responsibility, and often measured success by how much I could personally accomplish.
Over time, I realized that building something meaningful isn’t about creating something that depends on you—it’s about creating something that can grow beyond you.
I’ve learned to trust other people, build leaders, create systems, and allow our team to bring their own gifts into the studio. That hasn’t always been easy, but it has helped me understand the difference between simply owning a business and truly leading one.
I’ve also learned that growth doesn’t always mean doing more. Sometimes growth means simplifying, slowing down, listening, and having the courage to let go of what no longer feels aligned.
That lesson has shaped not only how I lead Insumataq, but how I want to live my life. I want to build a business that supports the people who walk through our doors, provides meaningful opportunities for the people who work here, and can thrive without requiring me to sacrifice myself to keep it going.
I’m still learning this every day, but perhaps that’s the biggest lesson of all: success isn’t about how much you can carry. It’s about building something strong enough that you no longer have to carry it alone.
