Today we’d like to introduce you to Josie Bergmann.
Hi Josie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Minnesota Unknown was started by three history nerds who met working at the Minnesota Historical Society. We enjoy sharing the unique and unknown History of our great state and started our company to do just that. We began in 2024 and are thrilled to be in our second year of delivering unique tours and podcasts.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As history enthusiasts and with over 20 years of experience between us giving tours we’ve loved jumping right in to delivering our own content. Being history and decidedly not business enthusiasts we have found it more challenging to advertise our offerings and get our presence known on social media.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We’re incredibly proud of our new podcast! It’s a great outlet for the stories that don’t quite fit into a tour or that we’d like to talk about for way longer than anyone would like to stand and listen. We enjoy the deep dives into topics that connect to well known history in ways the listener might not expect and that broaden understanding of our great state and it’s place in history.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The biggest thing we’ve learned on our journey is to just put ourselves out there and try. We’re incredibly fortunate to have found people who enjoy hearing all about the unknown aspects of Minnesota History.
