Today we’d like to introduce you to Katerina Pearson
Hi Katerina, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m originally adopted from Russia, and my love for the arts began when I was young. I started out in ballet ages 3-18, and in that time I discovered my passion for photography in a middle school photography class. From there, I wanted to know more and learn more about photography, and what it had to offer. I started out with my mom’s camera, then eventually was gifted my own to further my career in photography. I also enjoy reading books, and getting in a creative mindset which helped me in my passion for photography and the arts.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a rollercoaster of trying to get where I am today, and there is so much room for improvement still. It’s definitely a learning process, and there will be times where it’s super slow business wise, but that’s the best time to learn and dive more into photography.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have a passion for photography! I throughly enjoy capturing special memories for others, and making their day. Candid photos are fun because it captures that person in the moment, nothing posed or prepared about it which I love. I take all sorts of pictures ranging from events to personal photo shoots! I’m most proud of how much I’ve accomplished in the last four years with my photography career, and how supportive everyone around me has been with my journey. I think my personality sets me apart from others the most, and my ability to have compassion and empathy.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
It takes a lot of practice, and it’s okay to make mistakes cause that’s the best way to learn in my opinion. Make mistakes, learn from them, let things be a little hard now and then. Take on the challenge, get out of your comfort zone!
