Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Wagner.
Hi Kelly, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Most of my life, I spent trying to fit into the mold of other people’s mindsets. As I was going through my own transformative journey, I realized that I had to honor the voice in me. I had to stop giving my life over to fulfill someone else’s dream, not my own. This discovery rocked me to the core. I finally recognized that I was coming into my gifts and abilities in an environment that wasn’t open enough for me to express them. I couldn’t talk about how I could see and communicate with dead people. I couldn’t talk about how I knew things before they happened. So I began my exploration by attending classes, workshops, and retreats where I could nourish that part of me outside of that unsupportive work/family environment. I was so incredibly blessed to discover Maureen Higgins and Wings of Freedom (www.wingsoffreedom.com) early on in my journey, and she has been a mentor and inspiration for over 16 years.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have worked for small family-run and large international companies, and in various positions that have provided me with the skills I have today. I have such a diverse background of learning that I am comfortable almost anywhere, working with about anyone. For over 17 years, I worked for my father in an industry I was not passionate about, although I worked with amazing people and clients. I knew I made a difference. I thought it was the company I would own someday and put everything I had into it. Eventually, I reached a breaking point, and since I knew this was not my dream, I had to walk away. I stayed for so many years because I was honoring the old energy and old mindset of safety and security. Obligation kept me there. And because I wasn’t ready to move on, I struggled to find the words to market something I didn’t love.
That contrasted with when I talked about the “stuff” I was doing on the weekends. The words just flowed when discussing intuition, past life regression, energy work, and psychic mediumship.
I also started private sessions with clients as a psychic medium and intuitive business consultant. I began to work with people using my gifts and abilities and my training openly, and it just flowed. There are no blockages. My creativity is just through the roof now. There is such an abundance of opportunities that I feel I’m in quicksand because I can’t keep up.
As Covid hit, I was presented with the option to purchase the Edge Magazine. I was curious and wanted to know more. My husband is a graphic and web designer, and I manage business operations and sales. It felt right. It felt aligned. It has been a massive leap of faith, yet everything has been flowing since the moment we signed the papers. This process all feels very natural and comfortable, and beautiful to me. Is it scary? Yes! But we love it more than we possibly can describe.
As you know, we’re big fans of The Community for Higher Consciousness. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
With my husband, Steve, I am now the co-owner of the Community for Higher Consciousness, LLC (www.communityforhigherconsciousness.com). It’s a multi-media platform where holistic and alternative practitioners can share their products, services, blogs, and content. The Community for Higher Conscious then purchased The Edge Magazine, a 30-year-old print-only publication that was a pioneer in the Midwest for the holistic health and wellness community. (https://www.edgemagazine.net/)
We are in the process of normalizing the supernatural, paranormal, unexplained phenomena-focused community. Utilizing my corporate world background, we are transforming this free magazine into a media platform where the curious can find information from thought leaders on a wide range of topics, as well as information on events, classes, retreats, and summits in our community. AND, the thought leaders can find new partners and collaborators. Our website now has over 15,000 monthly views, 400 drop spots in the Midwest for our print magazine, subscriptions mailed to your office or business, and a growing digital and social platform that is constantly updated and growing daily.
It is centered around a directory, my black book of people I work with. These people have a wide range of specialties, chiropractors, acupuncturists, functional medical doctors, psychic mediums, energy workers, and intuitive coaches. We also have products and business services with people open-minded to work with people that have companies and services that are “outside the box.” We are building a vibrant and trusted community of teachers and seekers.
We are creating a safe space that allows individuals to go through this transformation process that involves breaking down long-held norms and beliefs and becoming vulnerable to build something new and authentic at the speed they want to, using the tools and guides aligned with their optimal outcome.
If I had had this type of support, my life might have been different, although I want to honor the process I went through to find out my ‘why.’ That being said, I want to provide this service, the community support for others struggling to find answers, unhappy with their life, and not knowing why, or possibly simply looking to share their gifts. The goal is to help others reach their higher purpose in any capacity they feel comfortable with.
We realized that to take the old Edge Magazine community to the new vision that Steve and I had, we had to do it through the lens of curiosity. Because seeing life through curiosity gives us much more room to play with when it comes to expanding our consciousness. People are more open and willing to share if you ask someone a truly heart-centered question out of curiosity. This is why the magazine’s motto is “What are you curious about?” It’s also why we have this radio show on AM950 Radio called “The Being Curious Show with Kelly and Brian.” We invite guests from a wide range of backgrounds, modalities, and interests to sit down and share their wisdom, and then we invite the curious to listen in.

What does success mean to you?
The Community for Higher Consciousness goal is to build a supportive community for holistic and alternative practitioners and seekers, service and product providers, and the curious, here, there, and everywhere. I feel like it’s our responsibility to break down some of these walls and to show everybody that we are really all in this together. That’s our North Star, and we know the road might have detours, and that’s ok. Not every avenue we have explored has been entirely successful. We’ve only been at this for about two years, and there is still so much to learn.
I know that we’re moving towards success because people tell me. The energy from the peers in our passionate community is so energizing. We can’t wait to keep expanding. There are measurable signs of success, such as increased magazine demand, increased open rate of email campaigns, and people calling and texting me with feedback. I also trust my gut. I trust my guides. I trust my team here, there, and everywhere. And they all say that although we might not have reached that pinnacle of success just yet, we are on the right track. It just feels aligned, or it doesn’t. And perhaps there isn’t a set point where we can say we’ve succeeded.
