Meet Kristen Hall of Bloomington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Hall.

Hi Kristen, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I first started making clay earrings back in October of 2019. One of my friends suggested I try making them, and I gave it a shot. My first couple of pairs were really bad. I had my first drop that October, and I can’t believe people bought them! Fast forward almost 3 years later, and so much has changed since then! I have an official website (instead of just selling on Instagram) and have sold at many different pop-ups and events! I am a middle school math teacher full time and run this small business on the side.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
Running a small business has not always been smooth sailing. Since I do this on the side, I can sometimes get overwhelmed and stressed thinking about everything I need to get done (and sometimes don’t have the time to). Over the past 3 years, sales have also been a rollercoaster. Some collections have sold out quickly, while others are crickets. Since I’m running this business solo, it sometimes can be hard to encourage myself in challenging times.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I provide unique and lightweight statement earrings that help women complete their looks and boost their confidence in any outfit. I create small batches of handmade polymer clay earrings. I am most proud of how far my earrings and business have come since I started back in 2019, especially doing this on top of my full-time job as a teacher. It has taken a lot of dedication and sacrifice, but I deeply enjoy it.

Can you talk to us about happiness and what makes you happy?
I honestly love seeing other people happy. Providing a product that helps women exhibit joy and confidence has also brought so much joy to my life. Whether they wear them on their big day, for family pictures, post chemo, give them as gifts, or name each style after special people. I never thought I would have said I have been blessed by “earrings.” Seeing earrings bring happiness to others has brought me so much happiness.
