Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristina Labbe.
Hi Kristina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
At a young age, I fell in love with documenting family memories. It all started with a polaroid camera and playing dress up with my cousins and friends. We would sing, dance and create shows for our family during the holidays. I loved creating photo albums and collages. In high school, I took a film class using older film cameras and fell in love even more! In college, I would have a camera in a wristlet case with my driver’s license and use it as a purse. Throughout my life, I have had a camera attached to me to capture all the special moments. I absolutely love looking back on everything I have done and everyone who has been a part of my life. The memories are so precious and have made me into the person I am today. It is so special to me to bring those same emotions to my clients. I began photography as a career when I was gifted a DSLR camera in my early twenties and started to have friends requesting me to shoot for them. The rest was history! I spent 10 years documenting weddings, and hundreds of families and growing my business and documenting the growth of many families. My business extended to other genres and I am now the proud owner of three photography companies. I have documented milestones, famous artists and empowering women through the art of boudoir. I have documented the joys of marriage, newborns, cancer survivors, artists pursuing their dreams and so many milestones. I am so proud to be chosen with every booking and I am so lucky to capture these moments in my client’s life.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have definitely been struggles throughout my career. It is a constant learning experience. Photography has changed so much and it is important to keep up. Technology and styles of photography are ever-changing. Entrepreneurship can have many ups and downs.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have switched my business model over in 2022. I no longer offer wedding services. My new focus is on family, branding and mini-sessions. I am very excited for this new journey. I love the creativity of mini-sessions and having various themes for them. I offer maternity sessions which are always so beautiful and every mama is just glowing! I am also focusing more on my boudoir business, which has been very exciting and I feel so proud of this endeavor. I had many wedding clients request boudoir sessions and I began shooting them several years ago, but I am now offering them full time! It has been so rewarding to help women see themselves in a new light. I am most proud of adjusting my focus on genres that really bring me joy and feel fulfilled while still having time to be with my growing family. I am so excited to create new sets for this upcoming year and to really be artistic and push myself to stand out. I think what sets me apart is that I really love connecting with my clients and genuinely care about what is going on in their lives. I want to be the best I can be for them and create images that they will cherish.
What are your plans for the future?
I am just so excited to grow my boudoir business and my family’s milestone business. With minis, I am excited to bring fun goodies for the kiddos and to create sets that are memorable in images. The biggest change this upcoming year will be that I will not be offering wedding services. Which had been a huge part of my life, so I am also nervous and I know I will miss it. But, I am so thankful that I was able to offer wedding services for a decade! When I look back at my career, it really has gone by so fast. I am so grateful to have documented so many growing families and met so many amazing people from around the world. I am looking forward to many more years of capturing milestones!
