Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyanna Ware.
Hi Kyanna, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When I was a teen, I used to randomly bake, wake up at 2am making brownies and sweets. I used to experiment with flavors and try different things. As I got older I just baked as I craved, I lost the interest until a few yrs ago. I have 2 children now and I started trying to make the treat tables for their parties which included the cakes. After doing a few birthday cakes for family, a few people started saying I should actually start a bakery. Of course I thought they were crazy, I wondered who would shop with me, not wanting to interact with people and fear of failing I said I would never. Shortly after, the family forced payment upon me for the cakes so I took a leap. I came up with a business name an found a website that worked for ordering, I started getting orders and people started seeing the name. I am now almost 2 years in, customers that I do not know, still trying to grow an expand but you can see the improvement in my work.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Learning techniques… pricing continues to be a struggle.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a operations manager of a team of 21 people at ALLIANZ Life. I have my associates in Business management and my Bachelors in Operations management with a minor global supply chain management . I am highly considering my Master of organizational leadership at St Kates in the fall. What sets me apart from others, I’m a natural leader, I am a hard worker and want to do good at everything that my name is a part of. Once I achieve one thing, I get bored and have to do another.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I like that it has a good mix of business’, its not only residential so travel for necessities are close. When we bought our home we were the youngest on our block but everyone is caring acceptive and friendly. What I like least, I would say maybe the opportunity to serve more neighbors just due to my business, some older people love sweets an some just cant have it but I say that in the way of I feel like getting more involved in the community is harder. I hear about the community events AFTER they are set, there is no communication on these things before hand (that I am aware of).
