Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Hamilton Gomez.
Hi Laura, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My reiki journey started in 2010, my husband and I were in search of alternative pain management for our 3 1/2 year old son. A coworker had suggested reaching out to one of the reiki practitioner who had been hired by our organization. Unfortunately that practitioner was not the best fit for a child with special needs. It was after our son had passed that reiki came back into my life, it was in my grief that reiki fell back into my lap. I was intrigued to learn more, and as I did I started to understood my grief better, and found healing. In 2018 I started to explore a much deeper want to take my training, and share it with others. Opening my practice has given me the opportunity to meet a diverse group, some who know of reiki, others curious and some even skeptical but willing to try, all walked away having their own unique experience.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Opening a reiki practice has not been a smooth road. Reiki isn’t a very well known practice, also there has been a stereo type placed around holistic practices like energy healing. Some might view it as evil or against their own personal beliefs. Sharing my knowledge with those who are looking to learn and understand it more has been a wonderful challenge.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Reiki Light Wellness, LLC?
Reiki energy is a holistic modality used in the calming of the mind and body.
It has slowly started to be recognized in the health care community as an aid in pain management, offered along side OT therapy, and many other healthcare treatments.
My home is the location of my business, it provides a very calm and serene environment.
I am most known for chakra clearing, taking clients through a deep meditation to clear away those daily stresses. The way to understand reiki is to experience a session yourself.
In my opinion not one reiki practitioner is like the other, we all bring our own gifts to each session. I’m blessed to be able to share my gift’s as a sensitive and empath which creates a much deeper reiki session.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
The best part of Monticello is the calmness, you can be running errands, but you don’t feel the pressure you would in a bigger city. The least favorite right now would be the limited restaurant options, but there is talk we will be getting more variety.
