Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Walsh.
Hi Lindsey, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I actually got my start in photography at a local real estate agency, pushing paperwork, of all things! One day, my boss knew I loved being creative and asked if I wanted to try photographing listings. I thought, “Totally(!), that sounds way better than sitting at a desk 9–5!” From that moment on, I was hooked.
I started with real estate photography, then slowly built my skills (and confidence!) behind the camera before diving into portraits. I picked up my first camera in 2018, launched LS Photography Co. in 2021 while still working full-time, and finally took the leap to run my business full-time in 2023—and I’ve never looked back!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Honestly, I’ve loved every twist and turn this photography journey has taken me on! But if I had to name the toughest season, it was the year I left my 9–5. That same year, I also went through a divorce, so stepping away from a steady two-person income to running my own business solo came with plenty of anxiety. Still, my community’s love and support carried me through, and what started as the scariest year turned into one of my most successful yet!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m the face behind LS Photography Co., capturing all the love, laughter, and happy tears life throws my way! I specialize in weddings, couples, seniors, and boudoir, basically all the moments that make you want to cry, laugh, or happy dance (sometimes all at once).
I’ve been voted Best Professional Photographer two years in a row in Fargo’s Forum Best Of (still can’t believe it!). But what I’m most proud of are the friendships and confidence that come out of every session. My clients always leave saying, “Wait, that was actually fun!”—and that’s exactly the vibe I’m going for.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I can’t pick just one favorite memory, it’s really the whole experience that stands out. I grew up on a small dairy farm in central Minnesota, and it was the kind of childhood you look back on and smile (and maybe tear up a little). My parents and siblings gave me a life full of hard work, family values, and endless laughter, especially during our game nights after chores. Every evening we’d sit down together for supper with Wheel of Fortune playing in the background, and I wouldn’t trade those moments for anything.
