Meet Madden Zappa of Minneapolis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madden Zappa.

Alright, thank you for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us how you got started?
I believe my story started in college when I deeply struggled with my mental health. I was introduced to therapy, while also studying psychology, and it was shortly before this time that I was also introduced to yoga. Fast forward a few years, I went off to receive my master’s degree in Mental Health and Law and realized that I didn’t necessarily want a career in mental health or the legal field but still wanted to create an impact and support others. Yoga played a huge role in my healing journey and it was my first step into the energy healing community. I wanted to be that person who held space for others and was able to make an impact in some way. I began teaching yoga and exploring a path of life coaching. I’ve coached on a multitude of topics over the years and eventually I became a certified life coach, a neurolinguistic programming practitioner, a clinical hypnotherapist, a breathwork practitioner, and a reiki master. With years of coaching I’ve come full circle to realizing why I initially started in this field in the first place: to make and create an impact. It was as clear as day to me that the biggest way to do that is to support other business owners and entrepreneurs scale and create their own impact. That is how I ended up on the path of business coaching.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all! Being an entrepreneur is hard; you get imposture syndrome. You experience the ups and downs in income. You experience hearing a lot of nos and how people want to work with you, but it isn’t a priority or isn’t something they financially want to invest in. As a life coach, you also go through your discovery and healing, and so there are waves where you feel you can have a full load of clients and other times, you need to take a step back and hold space for yourself.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
So I am an Energetic Business Coach, and what I mean by energetic is that I am very conscious and aware of how energy plays a role in business and scalability/ growth. The majority of coaches I see in the field are very strategic based coaches. What is the goal, what is it that you’re currently doing? Okay we need to do X,Y, Z to get the results we desire. Strategy is a very masculine energy trait and very necessary in business, no matter how long you’ve been in business. However, there is also the feminine aspect to business. Entrepreneurs are used to going 100 miles an hour at all times, days off are hard to come by, and burn out and fatigue are real. That is because we are missing a whole aspect to what it means to be a business owner. I incorporate the feminine into my I work with my clients in a very strategic way. We also use a lot of energy healing modalities to combat the mental and emotional sides that come with running your own business. I work with a variety of entrepreneurs from people just beginning and have an idea but don’t know where to start to business owners who have been around for a while but are struggling to make sales, sign clients, and to scale.

We’d love to hear what you think about risk-taking.
The cliche that references no growth in your comfort zone is true. Taking risks, while scary, are necessary. You must be willing to take a risk, leap faith, and get uncomfortable pursuing your desires. They can feel unsettling and nerve-wracking at the moment, but in the end, I’ve never taken a risk that I regret.
