Today we’d like to introduce you to Manny Minter.
Hi Manny, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Was a track and field athlete in college. Learned about biomechanics and kinesiology from Track Coach Roger Haynes while obtaining a masters degree in business.
Worked under a bright minded individual name Bill Moss of Running Right in Highland Park, IL who had a shop for over 25 years owned and operated by himself.
Moved to Minneapolis in 2014 to open a running store. Realizing people were not getting the service they desired from pre existing running and shoe stores. We wanted to prioritize the fitting of shoes since 85% of the population is affected by foot pain, knee, ankle, back etc. all because of improper footwear worn daily.
We wanted to create a store where function meets fashion a decade later I’d say we achieved that and expanding to 2 locations it is more evident now.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all. Covid, Riots now construction that cuts off the area where are business resides. I wasn’t able to get financing in the beginning even with a great credit score and industry references.
Over came them all by being adaptable. Growing up on the South side of Chicago you learn how to adapt or get lost in the chaos.
As you know, we’re big fans of Fit 1st Running. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
