Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Rivard.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My career started in 2004 following a knee surgery. I started drawing on old skateboard decks and created a small following as a visual artist. Turned that into a larger endorsement deal with Sharpie Markers, which led to public speaking engagements, which turned into a full fledged arts education platform called Do Rad Things.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
If it’s smooth, you’re on the wrong road. If it were easy, we’d all be successful entrepreneurs. Struggles are nothing more than tasks.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I think I’ve widely set myself apart by being able shift from Left Brain to Right Brain mindsets relatively efficiently. Most artists are horrible at the analytical business aspects, and most business people lack real authentic creativity. Balancing both is the sweet spot. I specialize in art, but also thrive in education and forward thinking projects.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was creative and athletic. I drifted toward the world of independent action sports. I like the dangerous side sports, and how it flirted with a creative and artistic expressionism. Style was more attractive than the scoreboard.
