Meet Megan Anderson of Saint Paul

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Anderson

Hi Megan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve loved photography since I was a child. The first camera my parents bought me was a Canon PowerShot a570. I loved taking photos of our family vacations and daily life with my friends and my sister. I also took photography classes in high school, where I learned the process of film photography and how to use the darkroom to process photos. I started my business in late 2021, I started with portraits of my sister and her friends, and after experimenting and trying out other genres of photography my favorite niches are; Lifestyle portraits of singles, couples, pets, editorial portraits, boudoir, and wildlife/nature. I have done almost a dozen weddings which I loved, but I realized they weren’t for me.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a difficult road, I wasn’t sure for a long time what I even wanted to do as a career, It took me a while to get to this point to know what I want to do, and with how the economy and the world is, it’s sad and frustrating that I am unable to do the things I love as a career & that I have to work a full-time job elsewhere, I’m still not able to support myself, or have a lot of free time for my passion for photography. I am doing my best to be more creative when I can and will not give up.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a Minnesota-based lifestyle, editoral and boudoir photographer.
I’m passionate about capturing genuine emotions and believe in preserving precious memories through creative portraiture.
As a photographer, I aim to create a fun, memorable experience and provide candid photos of your authentic emotions and moments to look back on joyfully.
My style is warm, romantic, elegant, and soft. I thrive in capturing and creating in nature. I try to incorporate landscape and real life into all of my work!

I am most proud of my progress, and how I continue to learn, and get better over time with constructive criticism and with help from others.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
There have been many but a few are; not to take consecutive criticisms personally, always be open to learning more and improving, don’t be so hard on yourself, & to make time for being creative, doesn’t need to be a big paid gig. Don’t stop doing what you love simply because your not getting paid, if there’s something you want to do, do it.
