Meet Michelle McCoy of Treasured Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle McCoy.

Michelle, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Twenty-two years ago, I sat in the car with my eight-year-old daughter after the final appointment, where the neurologist said there was nothing wrong with her and nothing more they could do.

I was exhausted… Mentally, emotionally, physically…and I still had no answers for my own child.

My gut told me it was her food, that it was something she was eating. But every time I brought it up to her doctors, I got shot down. “Food has nothing to do with her migraines. Feed her whatever she wants.”

Three years later, with no answers from conventional medicine, as I sat in that car exhausted and furious, I just knew I was right. Food had everything to do with why she was so sick. And I just needed someone to believe me and help me find the answers for our sick little girl.

That fight for my daughter is why I do this work now.

I’m Michelle McCoy, founder of Treasured Wellness and I’m a Board Certified Functional Holistic Health Coach and High-Functioning Fatigue expert. I help high-achieving Christian women find answers, restore their energy, and steward their health for a lifetime, with faith as the foundation….for themselves and their families for generational health impact and legacy.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?

During my daughter’s long three-year health crisis, I was going through my own health challenge of autoimmunity and adrenal fatigue. I pushed all of my own needs aside to focus completely on her and her healing. If I had to, I would do it again, but with a little more wisdom and grace for myself.

Years later, I went through my second fatigue crisis and it very nearly led me to burnout. My stress was extremely high with a lot of family challenges, including caring for a family member with Alzheimer’s. Navigating a career, young adult children, and a new caretaking role put my body into a level of lived stress.

I call that time in my life “the fire.” My body was living in a state of stress. Always on high alert. And it was suffering. I was suffering.

The Lord got my attention and broke through my stubbornness to keep producing, performing, doing and being responsible. He made me lie down like Psalm 23 talks about, but for me at the time, it wasn’t a gentle rest. It was more like a “forced rest,” and it wasn’t welcomed. But over time, I began to understand the signals my body had been giving me that I was ignoring.

Walking through my own fatigue crises has enabled me to help other women begin to notice what their body is telling them.

Honestly, if it weren’t for the struggles and challenges in life, I wouldn’t be the woman and coach I am today.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I’m the founder of Treasured Wellness, a faith-first, root-cause health coaching practice for high-achieving Christian women.
For thirteen years I have specialized in what I call High-Functioning Fatigue™, the exhaustion that lives underneath a woman who is still showing up, still leading, still holding everything together, while her body quietly runs out of reserves.

There is no other practice built quite the way mine is, rooted entirely in Scripture, backed by functional science, with a whole- body approach and built exclusively for the specific woman I coach.

Faith is not an add-on to my work, it is the foundation of it, and I hold my ground on that on purpose.

A lot of health content in women’s wellness borrows from places I don’t draw from and some add a verse to make it feel Christian. I built my business differently right from the beginning. Everything I teach comes from Scripture and sound functional holistic health with nothing else layered in. Helping women bridge the gap between a looming or official diagnosis and how they can help their body repair, recover and restore is so amazing.

Conventional medicine has its place but when it comes to health, it generally asks whether you are sick. I ask whether you are well. Those are not the same question, and they do not lead to the same answers. This is especially important as most women are 2/3 of the way unwell before a diagnosis is ever made.

If you ask what I am most proud of, it is the Treasured Wellness Whole Health Journal. The seed for it was planted twenty-two years ago, the day I sat in a parked car with my eight-year-old daughter after a doctor told us there was nothing more he could do for her migraines. I had started tracking her food and her symptoms myself because no one else would, and what I learned from that season became the foundation for everything I teach today.

Over the years since, coaching hundreds of professional women through their own exhaustion, I kept seeing the same gap. Women were not lacking effort. They were lacking a place to actually see what their bodies were saying. The Journal is that place.

It is not a planner, and it is not a diet tracker. It is a health stewardship tool, a hundred eighty days of guided attention that helps a woman notice her own patterns, care for her body the way Scripture calls her to, and stop treating her health like something to figure out alone or push through harder.

Readers should know there is a door into this work for wherever they are, from a simple first step to walking closely with me one on one. Whatever door a woman walks through, my heart behind all of it stays the same. She carries the commitment. I carry the complexity.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite memories was when we would go to our grandparents home for a visit. I loved their house as it was so big and full of interesting things to discover from the basement to the walkup attic.
My grandpa was a Chemist and worked for a popular candy company. He always made a point to show us what the newest candies were and where he hid them just for us. Traveling to see my grandparents was always a major highlight in my childhood since it truly was a treat to be spoiled by them. Helping grandma in the kitchen and listening to grandpa read us stories are simple memories that I cherish.
