Meet Myra And Daniel Huerta of H&B Drywall

Today we’d like to introduce you to Myra And Daniel Huerta

Hi Myra and Daniel, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Myra Huerta Bueno, I was born in Chicago and raised here in Minnesota. I have worked in a low income clinic from 2008 through 2023. Daniel and I got married in 2012, we had our first son in 2013, our second son 2014 and our last we had our daughter in 2016. While I worked in the clinic, being a wife and being a mom of three under the age of three I pursue in getting my Associate degree and my paralegal certification. It has been a long rough road but I am almost done. I have my Associate in Arts and Associate in Science. I just need my internship hours to complete my paralegal certificate. Owning a construction business was my husband Daniel Huerta idea. Daniel is from Morelos, Mx he came to Minnesota when he was 17 years of age. Thanks to Daniels older brother he started in the residential construction hanging sheetrock and now he loves his work. Daniel is so grateful of his brother in introducing him in the field of construction. Years later Daniel entered to work in the comercial construction area in the union where he learned so much. With little to no knowledge of English but with so much hunger and passion to learn all about the construction. Daniel worked in the union for 7 plus years, Daniel was privileged with really good superintendents that took the time to teach Daniel do more in the line of work. Daniel got to learn how to use the machineries, equipment, tools and read blueprints. Around the year of 2014, Daniel started to get more motivated in becoming more than just a worker. So, he left the union to go back to work with his older brother but this time with a small crew. Working under his brother he learned more about the responsibilities in turning in the work site clean and with no errors, how to charge and pay a job site, how to communicate with bosses and workers. With 16 years of experience in the field in April 2019 is when we decided it was time to open our Drywall business. I became full time mother and Daniels right hand for a year now and I am loving how we are growing our family business together. It truly has been our best decision in becoming our own business. With the help of our families, friends and our community we have been slowly but growing. We are not where we see our self yet but we are blessed in where we are and hopefully to reach our business goal.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Its been rough for Daniel for couple of things like, his biggest thing has been the language barrier. Its still is but not how it used to be in the beginning. Technology is also not his strongest. Daniel sees them as motivation to keep going. He is working on learning English and technology.

My struggle has been to balance everything and be everywhere where I am needed.

What we like about our city is the diversity of employment, opportunity’s of growth, big support in the communities. Minnesota in the construction world there is a lot of growth and so much opportunities. We really like how we can grow our business and our family here.

What we don’t like about our city is our cold weather but other than that we love Minnesota.
