Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Joanne
Hi Natalie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My path has been anything but predictable.
At 18, I left Minnesota behind, lured by the call of Hawaii. It wasn’t a decision driven by logic, but by a whisper, a feeling that I’d lose something important if I stayed and accepted the trumpet scholarship that kept me close to home. That was the more comfortable choice.
Hawaii was where I truly began listening to life and the rhythms of nature, working as a jazz radio DJ, literary journal editor at MĀNOA, and a hospice volunteer. The moments felt purposeful, whether I was playing music for strangers or sitting quietly beside someone at the end of their life. These experiences planted the seeds for something bigger, though I didn’t know it then. After moving to Italy to connect with my family and try my hand at learning Italian, I returned home and earned my Master’s in teaching, got married, and moved to Europe to teach in Prishtina, Kosovo. Life was full, but like so many journeys, it took unexpected turns.
After losing two dear family members and a baby, I found myself driven to capture the world’s stories through photography. Jennings Photo was born out of that darkness in 2010, and for that, I am grateful.
After a divorce, I traveled constantly and lived without a lease—from rural Guatemala and Vietnam to Australia, Israel, and even to the heart of Palestine, documenting the people and places that seemed far from the everyday rhythms of my old life. I also coached photographers, hosted the Photo Business Help podcast, and kept creating, even when things felt uncertain. But when I eventually returned to Minneapolis, life was different. The city was burning—literally and metaphorically—and everything I’d known seemed to be in upheaval.
After the fires, the protests, and the long nights of sleeplessness, I knew I needed something different. My nervous system was shot, my habits had crumbled, and I was disconnected from the land. I needed to return to nature, to a slower pace, and to a place where I could breathe again. The earth saved me. As Mary Oliver says, “They save me, and daily”—and that’s exactly what the trees did.
It was in this retreat from the concrete and chaos that The Sacred Path and Natalie Joanne was born, along with the realization that my work was about building bridges—between the spiritual and the every day, between nature and the self. Now, through tarot, emotional rewiring, and a bit of natural magic, I help others reconnect with their own paths, just as the earth helped me find mine.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I help people reconnect with their intuition and the natural world, empowering them to live in alignment with the divine and embrace a life of clarity, purpose, and fulfillment.
In other words, I help folks find clarity and live a more joyful life.
My main offerings revolve around tarot (my weekly Substack “The Sacred Path” & 1:1 readings) and emotional release and realignment, something I call Attunement Sessions.
I am also a deck designer and have recently printed my first deck The Corporate Oracle, a theme designed as a bridge between contemporary work life and exploring our own nature and intuition within that space. It’s a great deck for beginners or skeptics.
Attunement Sessions have been absolutely magical. Watching people move from overwhelmed and stuck to joyful and at peace in such a short time is wonderful. These sessions combine my certifications in Hypnosis and Rapid Rewire with a tarot reading. It’s a deep subconscious exploration that yields incredible results.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I’ve always loved where it’s located. The winter keeps it from getting too crowded, but opens up this beautiful “real estate” on the lakes to walk and explore. I like being near water, so the parks near the lakes and rivers are definitely what I gravitate toward.
On that same note, winters can be a little rough. But since I’m no longer locked into a Mon-Fri commute, it’s not nearly as bad. Watching a big snowfall from my desk in pajamas is pretty great.
