Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Lund.
Hi Nicole, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I have always been a creative person with a desire to help and teach. My career started in Art Education, then in Massage Therapy, and eventually landed me right where I belong as an Acupuncturist. The leap from Massage Therapist to Acupuncturist was a bit of a winding road. I do believe it was divine guidance that nudged me onto my proper path. One morning while standing in line at Starbucks, on my way to my educational recruiter job (working in a cubicle), something inside my spirit snapped.
I felt like an alien working in a corporate setting and right there in line, I started crying while waiting for my Americano. When I arrive at the office, I received a message from my sister saying “I was at the Acupuncturist last night. Why are you, not an Acupuncturist?” I thought, “You are right, why am I, not an Acupuncturist?” Acupuncture was a career path that had always interested me but I was deterred by the idea of four years of graduate school.
After I hung up with my sister, I set up tours with the two Acupuncture schools in town, and three months later, I quit my job, turned 40, became a full-time Acupuncture student, and never looked back! Fast forward eight years and I have my Acupuncture practice, Mind Body Constellation Acupuncture, in Minneapolis, and couldn’t be happier getting to help people live healthier and happier lives.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the biggest hurdles I encountered was in the beginning month of opening my practice. I opened my doors in November 2019 and just a few months later here comes Covid causing me to suspend seeing patients for four months. Never once did I consider throwing in the towel.
During that time I was fortunate to have a part-time job to fall back on. One of the tasks of the job was hauling around full trash bins in the summer heat. I knew I was committed to seeing my business succeed if I was willing to haul trash to earn the money so I could keep paying rent on my office space.
We’ve been impressed with Mind Body Constellation Acupuncture, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a traditionally trained Acupuncturist with a unique style of practice. As a practitioner, I am driven by a desire to get to the root cause of a person’s health issue and I strongly believe our emotions play a large role in the state of our physical health. Our emotions affect our physical body and our physical body affects our emotions, If we only treat the physical and ignore the emotions we are only treating half of the person.
Chinese Medicine recognizes that each organ has an associated emotion, so in my practice, I work with the emotions, present or unprocessed, to help the physical body balance. In addition, I also work intuitively and listen to what the body has to say and allow the innate intelligence of the body to steer the session. I enjoy working with individuals to support and ease the symptoms of chronic stress, anxiety, depression and grief. In addition to Acupuncture, I am wrapping up a one-year training program to become a Certified Medical Intuitive.
I look forward to working as a Medical Intuitive to help people gain deeper insight into possible what and why of physical issues or diagnosis and the possible emotions, or life events connected to their physical issues. Everyone is searching for answers to their health issues and helping people find these answers is what drives me personally and my work.
What makes you happy?
Movement, meditation, sunshine, margaritas, family and friends. I believe it is the simple things in life that hold the greatest value and bring the greatest happiness. But without self-love and gratitude, we cannot fully connect to the happiness in our life.
