Today we’d like to introduce you to Noah Peterson.
Hi Noah , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I got my start in events by DJing weddings and parties about 4 years ago, and honestly, I fell in love with it right away. What began as a side job quickly turned into a passion for creating experiences that people remember forever. At first, it was just me, a couple of speakers, and a drive to give couples and families the best time possible.
Over time, I started noticing how much people value not just the music, but also the energy, organization, and professionalism behind the event. That pushed me to grow NorthWoods DJ Services into something bigger—investing in better equipment, building a strong team, and partnering with amazing vendors like photographers, videographers, and planners who share the same vision.
Today, we’re more than just DJs—we help create unforgettable celebrations. I’m proud of how far it’s come, and I’m excited about the direction we’re heading, continuing to grow through strong partnerships and a focus on making every event unique.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey has been incredibly rewarding, but it hasn’t always been smooth. In the early days, one of the biggest challenges was simply getting started—working with limited equipment, building credibility, and learning how to manage all the moving parts of an event. Weddings and celebrations carry so much importance, and there’s no second chance to get it right, so the pressure to deliver was very real.
Another major obstacle was growing from being ‘just a DJ’ into running a full service. I quickly realized that success wasn’t only about playing great music—it was also about mastering the business side: marketing, contracts, logistics, and building strong partnerships. Each of those areas came with a learning curve.
While those challenges were difficult at the time, they ultimately shaped how NorthWoods DJ Services operates today. They pushed me to become more adaptable, detail-oriented, and focused on creating an experience that’s professional from start to finish. I see the obstacles as part of the growth that allowed the business to become what it is now!
As you know, we’re big fans of NorthWoods DJ Services. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
NorthWoods DJ Services is built around one simple goal: creating unforgettable celebrations. While we started with DJ entertainment, we’ve grown into a full-service events partner that offers so much more. Today, our services include DJ and MC work, photo booth rentals, day-of coordination, photography, videography, and media creation. This allows us to provide a seamless experience where every detail—music, visuals, and flow of the event—works together perfectly.
What sets us apart is personalization and professionalism. We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. For weddings, we curate everything from the ceremony soundtrack to the last dance, making sure each moment reflects the couple’s story. For corporate events, we focus on keeping things polished yet engaging. For private parties, it’s all about the energy and fun. Whatever the event, we adapt to the crowd, the venue, and the vision.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the trust we’ve built with our clients and partners. Couples often tell us that we made their day stress-free and better than they imagined. Venues and vendors know us for being reliable, easy to work with, and committed to excellence.
At the end of the day, NorthWoods is more than just playing music—we’re about creating moments people will remember for years. Whether it’s through the right song at the right time, a fun photo booth experience, a perfectly timed video, or smooth event coordination, our mission is to make every celebration truly unforgettable.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I’ve always believed that growth comes from both learning and staying inspired, so I try to mix business resources with creative ones. On the business side, books like Start with Why by Simon Sinek and The E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber have been big for me—they really changed how I think about leadership, branding, and building a business that lasts.
For apps, I rely heavily on tools like Trello and Google Workspace for organization, and Canva for quick creative design projects. Spotify and Rekordbox are of course essentials on the DJ side, but they also help me stay up-to-date with new music and trends.
When it comes to podcasts, I enjoy How I Built This by Guy Raz—it’s inspiring to hear the stories of entrepreneurs who started small and scaled into something much bigger. I also like Business Made Simple by Donald Miller for practical strategies I can apply right away.
Altogether, these resources keep me balanced—helping me grow the business, stay creative, and keep pushing for new ideas.
